The sign out front says walk-ins are welcome, but I usually ended up making an appointment. Yes, his name is Ray. IMO, very nice guy. Definitely a different character, but always interesting conversation. He genuinely cared about people too and always remembered insignificant things about me from our past conversations.
Good to hear he's still in business up there!

Re: Good barbers in Ames?
Always went to Monty, but sometimes it was like an hour wait to get a cut. You had to time it right, or be willing to wait a while. Saw a couple professors in there getting hair cuts too. Monty's was nice becuase it was only a few blocks off campus, so I'd just go if I had a couple hours to kill.

Good to hear he's still in business up there! Yeah, he has to have been in business at least 20 years or so.
