Re: VEISHEA Music
I liked it in 06 when the veishea main stage was on central campus. That might have been the best veishea of recent memory with the 3 stages, tons of stuff to do, and the cops not going on high alert, almost like they were *trying* to provoke a riot, like they did in 04 and this last year (this last year was ridiculous, blocking off streets and locking people in and out of bars).

Re: VEISHEA Music
I'd go if Motion City Soundtrack was playing but thats about it. Knowing the Veishea committee we won't get that many good acts. Still praying that we can somehow bring Mike Posner in for homecoming next year.

Re: VEISHEA Music
I hope since they're touring with Motion City Soundtrack that they are the headliner, having MCS at VEISHEA would awesome. Never heard of "fun" before, so that would be very disappointing.

I agree as well.

I'm excited for the thread bashing Ames Police after VEISHEA.

Re: VEISHEA Music
So I just checked the Motion City Soundtrack website, they're touring with "fun." thursday the 15th in Iowa City and still with them on Saturday the 17th in Winona, MN. So I'm hoping/assuming that if "fun." is going to be here on Friday the 16th, then MCS will be with them as the headliner.

Lets face it, veishea saturday night, even at its biggest, is nothing compared to some other colleges parties, but you dont see riots there.. and i think a big part of that is the police response.

I have to agree on this one. Just let college students be college students. Don't surround a crowd and box them in. Unfortunately, if the students are treated as though they are going to explode into a riot, this may cause them to respond as such. Rather, treat them as people just out to enjoy a concert.

I believe that is called a self fulfilling prophecy.
