Re: VEISHEA Music
Motion City Soundtrack would be a great headliner for the Friday night concert, but they need to get a big hip-hop act that isn't a piece of **** (read: Mike Jones)... My vote is for Tech N9ne, puts on great performances and isn't on a major label so would be cheaper to get him to come and he's from KCMO so not like its a far reach for him to get here.

Only if his performance is a crap ton better then when he was at val aire last time... My vote is for Mike Posner...his popularity is growing rapidly among college students.

Re: VEISHEA Music
I am friends with the lead singer of Sing It Loud who is also on tour with Fun. and Motion City Soundtrack. He called me two weeks ago and said they'll be playing in Ames on April 17th but couldn't "confirm" if Motion City was going to be here also. Anyone who hasn't listened to Fun should check them out. I saw them at the MShop and it was possibly the best live show I've ever seen. Nate Ruess was formerly the lead singer of the Format if that rings any bells. As soon as I know more I'll let everyone know

Haven't gotten a chance to check out Fun yet but I absolutely love MCS. Really would be proud to see them for the 3rd time. I also agree they need a better hip hop/rap act. I always loved the diversity of VEISHEA music with heavy metal/punk/country/hip hop.

I am pretty open when it comes to music, and I even went back to that song and listened to it longer than I did the first time, but I still had to shut it off before the song ended. Just not a fan of this type of music. I'd rather listen to Mike Jones again before I'd even consider watching these guys.

(Spring Break in Panama City Beach doesn't count). I have been to University of Minnesota, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Depaul, Mankato State (now Minnesota State) and Iowa (100s of times) and Rutgers is next on my list. I have not seen anything come close to the amount of people and amount of parties as VEISHEA except for Iowa (and they are a top 10 party school for crying out loud!) This year for example, my roommate is literally having 15 people stay at our place from Chicago and I'm bringing in like all my friends from Iowa which is a lot. I'm the only CR wash kid that parties and goes to ISU so everyone that wants to hit up VEISHEA asks me. My apartment itself will be a party...
It is going to be insane, there are tens of thousands of visitors that party on that weekend. It would be like if Ohio State or Texas had their entire student population (50,000+) out partying on one weekend within a small radius. A mass amount of hawks come for that weekend along with many others from smaller Iowa colleges and UNI. I think I heard once that there are 100,000 visitors on average but about half of them would be families and alumi.
University of Ohio has a similar celebration, which beats out VEISHEA but that's only one weekend as well. So what colleges party harder than that week in and week out? I want to visit!

Also, i believe estimated veishea attendance is 50k, but i severely doubt that 50k are out on welch. A very large number of those are alumni and their families that clear out well before the night festivities.

If true, then why the hell am I not going to UW-Madison? Or at least visiting... I thought when I decided to go to ISU that Veishea and monthly visits to IC would be enough, but now IC is too predictable for me... Pregame at a friends apt, go to the Union (or w/e), try to pick up a lady, spend too much money and then crash at your friends'.
Plus wouldn't you think that southern schools would be the bigger party schools? It's warm year round, at Iowa and especially ISU things die down quite a bit from November-March. I would imagine the party scene at Wisky would suffer a little too.

Re: VEISHEA Music
Mike Jones? Never heard of him.
Now, Davey Jones, that would be a different story -
Re: VEISHEA Music
Anyone know when the VEISHEA committee is actually going to announce the bands?
