The ones I remember seeing didn't use student tickets, they just snuck into the student section.

Re: Student Tickets
The only downside I see to this is that the drunk student in the tailgate lot can't just sell his ticket as he is about to pass out. Therefore I agree this will decrease the number of bodies in the student section. However, if we start winning games consistently there won't be enough student tickets available for the amount of demand. See Nebbie and similar schools for examples of how their student tickets sell out super fast.

Dozens of other schools (including Iowa) issue a paper ticket printed with the students name and requiring the matching ID card to be swiped at the gate. And guess what? ALL of those schools have a mechanism for transferring your ticket to someone else.
So calm down.
Holy Cow...So the man isn't trying to put the student down...
Could've fooled me.
This reminds me of the argument that Hawk fans have about not being able to buy single game tickets to the Iowa game. When the Yankees went and played the Dodgers this year, fans had to buy 10 game ticket packages to get a ticket to the Yankee game. They were fine with it.

Iowa State is never going to be a 10 win/year school, and even then, we still wouldn't have to worry about selling 'em out. I've been in college for 3 years, and its never been close to actually being full. It may look full, but rows are half empty, especially in the upper deck. I don't ever see a way Iowa State is selling 10,000 student tickets/year for football. That would require nearly every guy on campus to get them to make up for the girls who don't, and not very many minority buy tickets.

And this is still a ridiculously stupid idea. They've apparently never seen the mess it creates for ISU dining trying to scan all the cards.
So you do realize that there is an RFID tag in your ISU card now don't you? Basically they just have to wave a wand over it to get all your information. They might be scanning for a year or two until the new cards are fully implemented but eventually you won't even have to take your card out of your wallet.

I was going to say, they'd have to replace all upperclassmen's ISU cards. Last year's freshman were the first to get Smart Cards. I'll probably get mine replaced just so I know the strip works on mine so my tickets are accessible.

And just because there are less students doesn't mean the ones leftover still can't run over the ticket people. Half the games they just give up beforehand and let people run through (intelligent move). I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't scan some people early and then not get plowed at the gate but that's a rant for a different day. Well, for those of you youngsters who don't know what a fee card is, let me enlighten you. You were issued a fee card every semester when you paid for your classes. It was about the size of a business card and basically validated that you were an active student for that semester. The ISU card itself has no expiration date on it and the style of the card never changed, so without the fee card you could use the ISU Card for things like CyRide or athletic events where you just needed to show an ID, even if you weren't a current student.
They ended this while I was in school in the early 2000's. I guess it must have been more trouble than it was worth. It sounds like with the new smart cards, they may finally have a way of addressing whether or not a card is for a current student.

No more of this having to find a time and place to meet up with someone to actually hand over the tickets. Jsmith, in response to your statement i only have 1 question. What if you are at the tailgates lot and are having fun and just want to stay there, have a few beers and listen to the game. Pretty much makes it impossible to transfer your ticket right then.
