How many of you are helping your student or had your parents help you move to college when the student has their own transportation? This is from a discussion with my wife.

Anyone else notice the mom doesn't look too shabby for a 52 year old?

Well the girl isn't bad, likely a 7.5 but when I look at the mom, she's a hard 7.5 right now. That's a NDS(Net Deterioration Score) of 0. Pretty damn good actually considering she is 52. Anytime you can work off a 7.5 base and a 0 NDS, lock it down.

I felt like kids that went home any weekend during the first month of freshman year missed out on a lot of bonding/friendship making and never quite made it back up.

This is from a discussion with my wife. My folk's helped me, as another poster said couldn't get love seat in my two door explorer. My folks would have come regardless as the coaches encouraged the parents to come see what summer training and even two a days was all about depending on when you showed up.
On a side sappy note that was the second hardest I had ever seen my dad cry. (I think it had to do more with he knew free labor was leaving the farm instead of missing me )

He has a truck so the loveseat will fit. We have season football tickets this year, so we will be going up two weeks later, or at least I will be.

This is from a discussion with my wife. Parents have helped with all 2 of 3 moves. Hauling a loft in my 2 door Cutlass Supreme would've been a sight to behold and my parents hauled couches/bed frame/dresser in a trailer when I moved last year. I think I moved into Freddy on my own since it was already furnished and we didn't need anything huge.
As soon as CIMD has that diploma, give him the boot and wish him the best of luck. -

I think it's different if you're a son than it is if you're daughter. I can understand a daughter relying on her parents for the first couple of years at college. For guys, once you head off to college, it's time to grow up and become your own man.

I have two coworkers who are dangerously close to being helicopter parents. Just seeing their interactions makes me want to do the complete opposite when my kids are older.
