The Kum & Go, at 141 S. Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, is offering fuel containing 10 percent ethanol for that price from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. today.
Rahal Letterman Racing's Jeff Simmons, who drives the ethanol car, will be on hand for the event. (Promoting the Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway)

There is gonna be a long long line just to save what $10 on a fillup? I am sure it will make the news, and there will be people saying they waited in line for 3 hours, which will make me laugh and laugh.

The comical part will be the people that drove for an hour or more to get there - the money they would have saved just filling up locally would be enough.

They do these things, then you go wait in line for who knows how long. All the while, your car is running - wasting more gas (that you now have to buy). Maybe save a couple bucks, yet being you have to wait - ya won't save as much (net) and as a bonus - ya get to waste a bunch of time.
How 'bout they (and all the other stations) offer $2.18 gas from 12:00am to 11:59pm, Monday through Sunday - each and every week of the year?
Sorry, these spoofs just don't get me excited. My intial thought was go go fill up today for our weekend trip. Then I asked myself, do I want to put myself through that.
I said no.

Get everybody to disregard it for the long lines, then swoop in yourself!!

The time wasted would would cost you more also. For my calculations for doing it myself vs hiring it out, I calculate my time at $25/hr, if it costs less than that, just hire it out.

Very true - I'm going out to Jordan Creek for lunch, and if there's no line, I might fill up.... Think I could be so lucky? I haven't heard any advertising for this, so maybe.... just maybe...

Likely, at least 500 interoffice e-mails have gone out at companies in WDSM and even DSM. People will flock to this station like sheep off a cliff.
Employees will spend 2-3 hours waiting to get gas at this "blowout" price, only to return to work to get written up for a lunch hour they abused for a lunch they didn't even get to eat because they wasted it in line.
At the end of the day, they'll say "it was worth it because I saved $8.55 in my back account!"
Someone, please do a "Here's to you, cheap gas buyer" beer commercial skit. One that is so common, it would be a hit on TV.

I'm wondering if all Kum and Gos are doing this? I know all the local ones that offer E85 are selling that for $1.85 today from 9-3.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Maybe they get an intrinsic satisfaction out of spending the 2-3 hours for the "adventure" of it, for being able to say they did it, to talk with their friends about it, etc. Nothing wrong with that. If they find satisfaction out of it, how is any different than spending 2-3 hours a day on this web-site?

I have some relatives that get all crazy about gas prices at the various stations and will travel miles to find the cheapest gas. I've tried rationalizing but it's just no use!
