Credits: 4,523,727 NFL: Cowboys | Larry Johnson 'prepared' for long holdout | | Chiefs RB Larry Johnson asked by the KC Star if he's prepared for a long holdout? "I'm prepared," Johnson said matter-of-factly. Speculation has centered on Johnson seeking a contract that falls between the deals given LaDainian Tomlinson ($21 million in guarantees) and Peyton Manning ($35 million in guarantees). Larry Johnson says training camp holdout is possible
I suggest reading the article linked above and going through the pages for the Q&As. Very interesting.

earlier this week the star ran an article how his contract talks were starting to go well. It also stated since Master P got him such a great contract that he can't afford to hold out because of the fines everyday for missing camp. Then next year the Chiefs can slap the franchise tag on him for a year and then the next year he will be 30 with no bargning power because no team wants to give a 30 RB a big contract.

LJ is one of the top RB in the NFL and the only guy on the Chiefs roster that makes plays consistently on offense. They'd be crazy not to lock him up to a deal here soon because with out him you have the injury prone Michael Bennett and that is not going to scare many teams.

LJ set the record for most carries last season - that had to have an effect on his body. I hope they don't sign him for too long.

Interesting stuff. I've defended LJ after a lot of the stuff he's said and I don't blame him for wanting to get his money now because he's way underpaid. However, I don't want the Chiefs to handcuff themselves with a long contract that will make him overpaid in a few years either.

I kinda wonder if KC has done this to themselves. They have one great player on offense and that's really about it. They have some good ones, yet not great. It's been like that for a while now.
If you (KC) had not overworked LJ last year, he probably wouldn't be looking for this kind of money! Get another person or two on offense that you can depend on to make big plays when ya need 'em.
In the long run, it'll save you money, keep your players healthy (and in the game) longer and balances out your offense.
I know...what a strange idea...
LJ has made some mistakes while in KC. What I appreciate is he admitted to them in this interview. He knows where he messed up but that was a few years ago. This is now and he knows going into the season, once again he's the guy. To top it off, they've got a pair of QBs that really have yet to prove themselves...similar situation to last year minus the games Green was playing in.
While I think he's asking for a little more than he should, I don't blame the guy for wanting to get the contract now rather than wait to suffer an injury late in a game where he's carried the ball 35 times and is dead tired. Plus, he's worth far more than the amount he's scheduled to get paid this year.
I hate guys that whine about money and hold out - but LJ has a point.

I am a Chiefs fan and I say let him sit. The team may not be great without him, but it seems like he gains all of his yards when games are already out of hand. Plus he can not block at all. He puts up numbers but does not make the team that much better in my opinion.

Larry had 19 TDs, one more than all of KC's QBs threw last season.
But you're right, he didn't make the team better.
And in all of those 400+ carries and 41 receptions, he fumbled the ball twice. TWICE! How dare he...that's twice the number of Michael Bennett (36 carries).

I'll add...
LJ scored 114 points, which led the team (often times the kicker leads). Second was the kicker with 107. Next guy on the list (Gonzalez) had a blazing 36.
