Did Darts find a way to hate on McCarney in the mild duds thread? I'm sure it's there somewhere

Re: "Good is the enemy of great"

I agree, it is a great book. The first in the series was called "Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies". The co-author with Collins on the first book, Jerry Porras, Has another more recent book titled "Success Built to Last: Creating a Life That Matters" that I just finished a few weeks ago. I think they were all great reads. One of my favorite quotes from the last book is "No one does anything that matters along." Not sure I completely buy that, but of the truly great, far reaching things it is true.

Re: "Good is the enemy of great"

I’m actually reading good to great right now, I would be willing to bet that quote is product of Chizik more then Dmac. When JP introduced Chizik he talked about how he was going to be a CEO of the football program. That would fit in well with the ideas from the book “good to great”. Chizik has already used some of the ideas from the book at ISU. The book talks about having the right people on the bus in the right seats before you even know where the bus is going. That was a big deal with him taking time hiring a staff. The best corporations that go trough a “transition to greatness” and stay great, don’t have flashy big name individual people behind the scenes, the great companies have a family.
Can Chizik be a level 5 leader? I’m not sure, I hope he tries for the sake of ISU.

I've heard of this book yet have not read it. Many of you have convinced me to pick it up!

Apparently not at the ISU FB complex based upon our recent past!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Re: "Good is the enemy of great"

Funny, because I've worked for a company that believed "Better was the enemy of Good Enough." Basically because once the product was good enough, it met all the requirements and the effort to make it better was wasted.

Good being the enemy of Great is a much better motto for a football team though.

Wow junior, telling me off like that, very impressive.

So if you are saying that we should be encouraged (your word) that we now have a coach who will go the extra distance to put catchy self help phrases up on the bulletin board, then I am guessing that you were down right inspired by the constant pacing and clapping of the former coach. This may explain a lot.

Shouldn't you be scanning newspapers for hidden messages??? I do so enjoy the lectures on the evils of liberalism.

Or, invading other teams fansites to tell them to hire Dan.

I am still amazed that people on here haven't figured out that all of the recent trip down memory lane posts, while relevant in discussing the need for change in the mentality, and how the mentality that was ingrained into the psyche of Cyclone fans was responsible for considering 10-73 "hopeful." was really nothing more than to get over the multitudes of political discussions that were on this board. We know republicans are right democrats are wrong, and Fox News Network is the only news worth watching.

There, I summarized the multitude of threads discussed ad naseum on this site in May for those who didn't take the time to read them.
