Re: Cubs are terrible
I don't mind the cubs and actually pull for them as long as the Twins aren't in the picture. That being said, its really funny to see all these Cubs fans go crazy about the fact that they're 6.5 games out and JUST hit .500

Re: Cubs are terrible
It is awesome, because they are actually playing good baseball. This was a heck of a comeback win. I was crushed after they gave up 5 in the first inning. But they kept chipping away. There is a lot of baseball to be played yet this season. I love baseball and I love the cubs!

Re: Cubs are terrible
I hate to make the connection, but Cub fans in many ways are like Cyclone fans. Very loyal to a team(s) that are not as successful as we would like.

Re: Cubs are terrible
Well these 'terrible' Cubs that you speak of currently have the best winning streak in all of MLB.
And like others have said, if you don't like them feel free to not open the threads. And don't forget that their minor league team is right in Des Moines. That a big reason that I started to watch the Cubs when I was young.

I don't think you'd find Texas fans getting fired up for a .500 team.

Re: Cubs are terrible
haha, I can see the connection just because they both break your hearts. The Cyclones those back to back years in football broke my heart badly. It is a loyalty thing, every year I am always optimistic about both teams and I cheer my heart out for both teams, but that is what makes sports great!

Re: Cubs are terrible
Here is the "First Baseball Game" ever as done on the Bob and Tom show. It was broadcast by Harry Caray. -

Good god, you guys are like a bunch of Hawk fans trolling the poor Cyclone fans that we're celebrating over a win. Get over it, root for your own team, and lets us root for ours. -
Re: Cubs are terrible
The best season record ever is still held by the 1907 Cubs who went 116 and 36.(The Black Sox did beat them in the World Series). Life time the Cubs have won over 9,756 games. Yeah they've had a long dry spell, but hardly a terrible team over all.
It's a great franchise in a great city with great fans. What's incredible is they have one of the leagues highest attendance figures despite being a subpar team much of the time over the last 50 years.
What's fun right now is the Cubs are playing good baseball. They've had some great defensive plays and clutch offense when needed. It's a long time until October and a lot can happen. I think most Cub fans are happy because the new coach seems to have them playing a lot better than the last couple years.
By the way, the Cubbies have the best out of league record in baseball right now, so I'm not sure that division is as bad as some people think. Cripes the Cardinals won the World Series last year and Houston was in it just a few years back. You could argue it's been one of the best National League divisions recently.

Who cares about the CUBS, I Do. Cubs are a joke? Tell you what open tryouts at wrigley and lets see that 65mph fastball. The point is they are making the money to play good or bad. You have to deal with your team for higher expectations. Besides What is YOUR team that you root for. I am proud to say I have been a CUBS fan since 1969.

Oh come on, I'm a Cubs fan, and I truly don't buy that. We play in the worst division in baseball, and everyone who pays attention knows it. The Cards have been hurt all year and haven't done squat, the Astros have an aging team that is getting worse every week, and the Pirates and the Reds are...well, the Pirates and the Reds. Milwaukee has been the best team in the division this year by a longshot, and as awesome as this 7 game streak is, don't kid yourself into thinking that the Cubs, with the talent that they have, shouldn't be running over every team in this division.

If you wanted to count this team before it became the Cubs.
As for them when they were called the Cubs I agree with you 100%

Actually with the pitching they have left, it's amazing they are doing as well as they are.
