Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue

This is just like a murder mystery reported on by CNN in the Carribean. A lot of steam about nothing. Will not be solved untiul Aug or Sep. Marty shows hinself to be a cloddy bulldog who has riled his listeners. He is happy. He is telling EIU people what they want to hear: it will cost you $65 to sit hillside instead of $175. Personally, I would sell the 4 hillsides to EIU fans singl;e game 100 bucks a pop and cram them in like sardines until they scream sooey. I would grease the hillsides so they slid down during the game. I would put a sound system up to blast their ears. I would make them park in the creek. You get the picture - you did not buy a real seat, so you get the sludge area, EIU.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue

I agree with everyone on here about this topic. I was listening and a lady called in about her email that she sent. She mentioned that Iowa did the same thing a couple of years back, but Marty said that Iowa has a right to, but not Iowa State. ISU can do whatever they darn well please. It is not everyone's god given right to be able to buy a ticket to this game, as Iowa fans seem to think. Marty also said that this would be like a spring scrimmage for EIU. If this is true, why are Hawk fans making such a big deal about this. If an Iowa fan wants a ticket, buy a season ticket and sell the rest. Part of the problem with ISU selling season tickets, is that a large number of the Cyclone fan base are farmers, and all the farmers are in the field during the fall, or at least a major part of it.

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue

Marty was hot about it on yesterday's show AGAIN. He is 100% sure that you will be able to buy a single game ticket. And I don't think he is stirring the pot...I think he really believes that. And Ken just kind of laughs at him.

They mentioned they invited Pollard to be on next week.

P.S. Marty, ISU can do whatever the hell they want with their tickets. They have "the right" do try and make more money.

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue

Marty can't fathom that Cindy Sullivan could just be right when she says, that this is all about selling more season tickets and NOT about ONE game.

It will be funny if JP refuses the bait and wont go on Marty's show!!

Marty should ask eiu for one of those cheap tickets to the game if he cant afford season tickets!!

Can you say mini-pack when the time comes? What better way to sell tickets to the Kent St and Colorado game than to package them with an Iowa ticket? It will be cheaper than a season ticket (let's say $150), but will also generate the revenue from Kent St and Colorado games being sell outs.

I can almost assure you after that one interview on M&M - they're not high on Pollard's list of people to talk to. Mostly Marty though - for him yelling at Pollard and not allowing him to get a word in.

I'd love to see Part II of that interview...methinks Pollard would eat him alive.

Except that Pollard has already stated several times that he won't package the Iowa game. The only way to get in is with a SEASON ticket!!!!

    I agree.

At least Jon Miller can do an interview. His interview with Pollard was very good.

BTW, Pollard once again confirmed that he will NOT cave and that he has not changed his stance on the game.

No mini packs, no discounts or bundling. Period.

Pollard has been very direct to boosters and everyone.

If he changes, he risks angering major donors.

Marty is going to keep ranting and raving on this until he is proven wrong (which he will be). Then you will never hear about it again. It will be as if all of these months of carrying on never happened. This guy is about as accurate as Michael J Fox with a rusty muzzleloader.

I completely agree. I had 4 relatives (1 uncle and 3 cousins) that backed out of buying season tickets because they thought they would be in the field too much.

If nothing else, ISU is in the news every day...This is doing good things for season ticket sales, it just keeps beating people over the head to remember to order their tickets.

If he makes changes he risks losing his job. He cannot back down, if he does, I lose all respect for him and pull my NCC membership. I love his stance on this.

I've finally found something really useful about being surrounded by good, solid Dutch reformed types. Since my neighbors frown on working on the Sabbath, I declare my Sabbath to start early Saturday morning. We pack up and head for the stadium. After church on Sunday morning, I go out and work in the fields. The Lord even gets a few extra hours. I get a few hateful looks, but the people who ask and let me explain my logic seem to be all right with it. Of course, it helps that I'm not a really big operator. Hope your relatives can make it for the November games. And the rainy (if it ever does rain) weekends.
