Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
Oh dear Lord, what is it with this guy? 10 minute drive home and I could barely stand it. No matter what, this dunce just isn't going to get it. And no matter what anybody told him.
"You can't sell hillside SRO season tickets"
So two guys call in and say that we ARE, in fact, selling hillside season tickets. Didn't matter - in one ear out the other (short trip with little interruption)
He's just convinced he's figured out what JP is up to (laughable in it's own right). That there's some odd conspiracy with the capacity of JTS, and above a sellout somehow matters. If ISU sellsout season tickets for actual seats (with hillsides included in the season tix total) - then JP has the green light to declare victory and sell singles.
Putz -"NO single game tickets will be sold for the Iowa game". It's really that easy.
To quote Wesley Snipes in "Blade"
"Some mother-f'rs are always trying to ice skate uphill". Sounds like Marty & logic, doesn't it?
This is seriously the best central Iowa sports radio has to offer, or could come up with?

To hire him in Montana would be aiming low.

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
The best part was when Miller said "JP is somewhere up in Ames laughing it up" because you are talking about the subject again and giving ISU more free pub. -
Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
I think Jamie does have something up his sleave. I am not sure what it is but I think he does. I don't really care though.
Here is my logic
You can buy single game tickets to every other game right. So if you can only get in the Iowa game with season tickets where are those seats going to come from when you buy single game tickets. In theory they will be all season tickets.

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
If we do, somehow, pull the miracle of selling all season tickets, it makes for an interesting thought. Ideally, there would no longer be any single game tickets to buy, other than hillside.
This would make single game tickets only available on the open market. Would the prices tend to go above or below face value for other games?

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
No matter what Marty will spin it even if he's proven wrong. Right now he's talking up how he'll be able to go to the ticket window and buy 2 single game tickets to the ISU/Iowa game. Ain't gonna happen, I'm sure plan B Pollard has tucked away is not that but you know Marty will spin it somehow to cover his ***** but I'll tell you this much, he won't be buying a single game ticket to that game PERIOD. -
Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
For the record in case you don't know. If you are a booster you basically can get any amount of tickets you need. It has nothing to do with the tents or anything. If you rent a suite or give enough money you can get as many ticket's as you want. I personally don't get season tickets because my father is a booster. If I want ticket's he makes the call. So if there are a couple thousand tickets left over. I have a feeling I know where they will be.

Re: Tirrell and the ISU/iowa ticket issue
My email thread with Marty this morning.... David- I don't take umbrage with your numbers; just remember what I said: "you will be able to buy single game (Iowa game) tickets." YOU will SEE! All you clone fans are gullible...Pollard is no dummy...his Plan B will be genius; he'll ahve his cake and eat it as well at the expense of Hawk fans... Marty six2 even! From: David Sent: Tue 7/3/2007 10:31 AM To: Marty & Miller Subject: RE: ISU Season Football Ticket Letter Marty, He won't buckle and you will be eating crow come September 16, 2007. When have you not known Jamie to be a man of his word? Personally, I think he's paying you to bring this up every couple of weeks for the publicity. :) Look at the numbers: Currently there are 33,463 season tickets sold. This does not include the 4,000 to Iowa fans, the 800 additional student tickets still available, and the tents which can be purchased for $8,000 with an additional 50 tickets each. Say capacity is 45,000, and he sells no more season tickets. For the sake of numbers, I am also leaving out the tents. 45,000-38,263 = 6,737 available tickets remaining at $65 each = $437,905 (assumes $65 premium single game ticket price) Now take the 33,463 - 30,728 ('06 season tickets) = 2,735 additional season tickets @ $300 each = $820,500 Jamie has already increased the revenue of the football program by almost $400,000 without even having a "sellout". On top of this, he has increased the membership in the National Cyclone Club. Their is still 2 months prior to opening kick-off for the season. I have a feeling they will sell an additional 1,500-2,000 season tickets. Not to mention all the Iowa fans that will be required to pay $155 for season hill-side tickets at the last minute. Jamie is interested in the big picture and not making sure one game is a sellout. He will not buckle and he will not justify selling Iowa game tickets on game day by saying he already has a sellout. You simply won't get into the game without a season ticket that day, unless of course you cheat and use a press credential. I'm sure Ken will agree with me, September can't come soon enough so we can put this issue behind us. Pollard will buckle...just watch!!! Marty six2 even From: David Sent: Tue 7/3/2007 9:32 AM To: Marty & Miller Subject: ISU Season Football Ticket Letter
Ken,
Make sure Marty reads this letter, then have him show you where it says Jamie is only interested in making sure that there are 42,500 tickets spoken for before he opens up single game seats for the Iowa State vs. Iowa game this fall. I completely agree with you and have heard Jamie state that the only way in is with a season ticket. The only exception is tent sales which are limited to 50 tickets each.
From the attached letter... (http://www.cyclones.com/pdf5/60172.p...B_OEM_ID=10700)
"It is important to underline that single-game tickets will be sold for the six home games this fall other than Iowa. There has been incorrect information circulating that ISU won’t sell any single-game tickets for those fans who want to take in just a game or two. It also isn’t true that we’ll open up single-game sales for the Iowa game this fall. That is not going to happen.
The cold, hard reality is that we cannot survive financially and compete with our peers by selling a small number of season tickets and trying to live off one huge crowd every two years. One thing is certain; that formula has not worked in the past."
Thanks,
David

You can buy single game tickets to every other game right. So if you can only get in the Iowa game with season tickets where are those seats going to come from when you buy single game tickets. In theory they will be all season tickets. You can ORDER single game tickets at this point. As far as I know, nothing is guaranteed and season ticket orders are priority over singles.
So I'd guess there's some arbitrary season ticket "cut off" date (don't have the first clue what it would be - say Aug 1) . After that, remaining seats will be filled with singles - except for Iowa which won't be sold. If after Aug 1 (again, made up date) you order a season ticket, unless there are remaining for all games, you'd be SOL.

Just send Marty this pic. That's basically what he has done with this topic almost every week now... -

What an putz. Way to open your fan base Mart. Of course, I'm sure we all realize he's just doing this to stir the pot - because he basically has nothing else to do. There's no logic, he has no reasoning (that's sound). He's just throwing ***** off the wall and seeing what sticks.
