Barry Stevens tribute game, pathetic tix sales

DesMoinesRegister.com

I find it hard to believe only 500 tix have been sold. I thought we were better fans than this. C'mon Clones', buy some tix, tell your tailgating buddies. If we can get 8,000 to see Coe college in an exibition game, we can surely get at least that to see some of the greatest players in ISU history.

That caught be off guard when I read that earlier. I figured there would be atleast 3-4k sold already and around 10k by game time. The tickets aren't overly expensive and you get to see some old favorites. I bet things will pick up now that they are promoting it a little more. Hornacek is going to be on Cotlar tomorrow, so I'll give that a listen.

I wonder if some of it has to do with the fact they are being sold via Ticketmaster, who chargers you an arm and a leg in fees.

Yeah, Ticketmaster made me think twice about buying tickets. If they sold tickets through the athletic office, that wouldn't be bad at all. Plus, there hasn't been much promotion for the event... I don't think anyone outside the hardcore fans here on the boards even know of its existence.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

That and they haven't promoted it at all. Obviously they thought this event would sell itself. Since the press release a couple months ago, I've heard or seen nothing about this event on TV or print.

Tickets were $18. I got three. 3 * 18 = 54. I was charged $82. Ticketmaster is ridiculous.

I paid a $6.00 convenience fee and a $6.00 building fee per ticket for the Def Leppard concert in KC tomorrow night. It's an outdoor concert, and the actual ticket only cost $19.

Unfortunately we're going to have to get used to it, the athletic department is switching to ticketmaster in the near future as well.

Are you frickin kidding me? I will NOT use ticketmaster, so that means no single game tickets for me ever.

Re: Barry Stevens tribute game, pathetic tix sales

Being very poor and a soon to be newly wed (3 weeks) college student, I have to carefully choose my spending money. I've spent money supporting current sports programs so I have to cut spending elsewhere. This game sounds pretty fun, but I probably will not get a ticket unless some money is safe eslewhere. I too hope they sell more tickets, but it is hard to be able to cough up money for every thing that comes my way that sounds fun. I had to turn down a few concerts I really wanted to see also this year, so it is not just sporting events.

I just heard about it on the news tonight for the first time. They mentioned a little bit, but I don't know anything about it. What is it? Are they going to play bball? or what?

If Cyclone Fanatic was a drug…consider me a junkie.

Surely they will sell them at the door. I am counting on it. I think it would nothing short of pathetic to see less than 8000 at that game.
