The Cyclones have now overtaken Colorado(6,000), Oklahoma State(6,500) and Kansas State(7,259) in the number of annual donors to athletics. The increase in the number of members in the National Cyclone Club has skyrocketed along with season ticket sales. The last published count for NCC membership was 7,263 in Aug 2006. (we were already ahead of Texas Tech-Kansas-Missouri & Baylor) I called the NCC offices yesterday and they said there would be an updated number when staff returns from summer vacations. Passing the 8,000 donor mark is a definite possibility if not already surpassed. Selling season tickets is only one piece of the athletic puzzle. Growing the NCC membership as well as the donor levels is a must if we are going to compete with the "Big Boys & Girls". Next on the list is Oklahoma....listed at 10,000 donors. ref: National Cyclone Club and Taking the Next Big Step

I knew the future was bright for ISU, but if there was anyone still skeptic about the excitement for the future of the program, this should knock them clean off the fence.
| Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.
The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success. This is Cyclone Football. |

The numbers are getting there. Now the next rung is to increase the average donation.
7,500 people (estimated) giving an extra $20 per year = $150,000.

However, updated numbers by the NCC will show an increase. Nebraska is next above us at $815. Interesting is A&M....they are in the bottom half of average gifts; however, they are listed at a whopping 23,000 donors.
The "1 in 10" campaign as outlined in cyclones.com states "if 1-of-every-10 Iowa State University living alums joined the National Cyclone Club at the lowest giving level ($100 annually), the resulting revenue would fund nearly $30 million of facility upgrades in the athletic complex".

Are they going to release the new numbers before the football season, or are they going to wait a year to give a full report? Just curious.
