My neighbor (Nebraska Fan) has a nephew from Applington Parkersburg that was at the same camp as Tuftee and he was competing for a linebacker spot. He had told his uncle there was this lineman that knowone really knew and he was simply a beast!!! It was Ethan Tuftee....his assessment of Tuftee was he had really good movement for a guy his size and when he got his hands on someone they simply didn't over power him. Looking at some of the best Guards and Tackle prospects in the nation only a few had better camp numbers - Ethan bench pressed a crazy number of reps with the next closest being like 10-12 reps behind. This camp included Logan Pegram a 3 star lineman out of Kansas that i know we're recruiting.
From all accounts of him, everything being said sounds great on him - forget the stars, if the kid is a beast we like him. Look at the powerful programs regardless of division - they always seem to have powerhouse lines. Get Pegram in the mix and add that to our recruits from last year Osemele, Klerekoper, Carpenter and my favorite Baysinger (he just looks like a stud tackle to me) and our line will not be the weak link as it was last year. If you have the awesome big uglies - you have big holes and time to throw.....
Always great news to hear something positive about a guy you've recently signed!!!!
Great Job Chiz and Staff, keep up the good work - you have us headed in the right direction..

Is Tuftee an AP guy?? I was on the sideline during the AP-GR game (on the Gladbrook-Reinbeck side), and while their o-line was very good, no one stood out to me as a D1 talent.

I read somewhere that at the camp, Logan Pelgram wasn't asked to stay afterwards but Ethan was. I think Logan was hoping for an offer then but the coaches only asked a couple linemen to stay. I'm not sure who the other(s) might have been.
This is great news though. Sounds like we got a steal.

I think that this staff understands that you need 3-4 HS OL signed each year. There has to be a pipline of OLs coming up through the ranks. Any JUCO OL signed have to be outside of your group of 3-4 Highschoolers, otherwise your pipeline falls through.
Mac's staff for some reason did not get this. They'd sign a huge group of 5-6, then the next year 2 and a JUCO, the next year 2 and 2 JUCOs. And the year with 5-6 HSers, it would be mostly in-state kids that only UNI wanted. No wonder our OL sucked the past two years.

I like the sound of an O-lineman that is tough for tacklers to shed. That was a big problem last year. The linemen could quickly get to their blocks, but they couldn't hold them very well.

To clear things up a bit, my friends nephew was from A-P Aplington-Parkersburg and he commented on how good Ethan was at that camp. Ethan is from Davenport Assumption.
B-muff you nailed it....that's exactly what i see...
Isuonthemove - your comment on Logan Pegram - i wonder if he's relying on that 3-star ranking and thinking he can just waltz into offers...if so, i like the fact we didn't just offer based on someone elses rankings, we evaluated and selected someone that performed better and was ready to do the work needed to get better.
57 days til we see.....
