I found this kid's own website. We're recruiting him at linebacker. You can go to his website and watch some of his videos. I guess if you're this impressive on the field you can have your own website.

Blake Slaughter, Inside Linebacker (Class of 2008)

That's a helluva name too.

Wow, self promotion websites for HS kids, times have really changed since I was in HS. Of course there were no websites when I was in High School.

I think, compared to today, you could say that there were barely any computers when we were in school.

I am going to start putting my 3 year old's highlight video's together. He drilled his little sister with a forearm last night that was AMAZING! I am thinking he will be a D-end. Can't start too early...

Big sister, I would have been impressed. Little sister? Send him to EIU.

Kids that want to get a college scholarship have been creating their own highlight tapes and mailing them out for some time now...this is just the next logical progression for someone that is actively marketing their services to get a college scholarship.

However, if the kid is really a "player" they typically don't have to go to this tactic to try to get scholarship offers...the coaches are beating the door down. He looks a little small to me and I would hold all the numbers he lists on his own website as being a little suspect...height, weight, speed, strength, the whole nine yards.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Take a look at that kid's GPA...I'm pretty sure he could get an academic scholarship all by himself.

Yeah! If all this is true on the site, why does he even need a site?

Re: blakeslaughter.com

Thanks for the link - wow this kid is impressive...

In looking at the clips i love the way he flows through traffic - great football sense of angles, speed and the ability to read and react. This kid would be an awesome fit in Chiz's defense - the next Derrick Johnson...

I don't doubt his lifting numbers, when Royce Hooks came to ISU he was undersized but he was still strong as hell right out of high school.

Re: blakeslaughter.com

Anymore its not just for offers for kids who have no problems getting them. Its about getting more offers and getting more stars behind their name.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

It depends on if he ws squatting 500 lbs on the bar, or they use conversion chart. In high school I was squatting close to 600 using a conversion chart (over 400 on the bar for 7 reps).

Through the fire and the flames we'll carry on.
