I read today that the contract Fizer signed in Israel is a 2 year deal with a total of $1.8 million. I was a little surprised. I was not aware that the foreign deals had gotten that lucrative.

There was an article that I read not too long ago about former Syracuse PG Gerry McNamera that said something to the effect of him making more playing in a foreign country than he would in the NBDL. The kicker was that he was happier in the USA, so he chose less money. Foreign contracts are definitely plenty lucrative.
In one of his several local radio interviews promoting his new book, Paul Shirley was asked about playing in the NBA-DL. H ebasically said he'd have to go overseas for a couple years to make some "real" money first.
