I ran the 5K last night in downtown Ames. It nearly killed me, but I finished. It was 91 degrees at the start of the race and 87 when it ended. Not too much relief. Just curious if anyone else ran it??

First year in like 5 that I have missed it. I did 4M at 9:30 in the morning pushing a baby stroller. That was tough.
How did you do?

I have been a sprinter my whole life and only did it because the fiance wanted to. With the weather and such, I was happy to break 29 minutes. on it.
What amazed me most is watching the guys up front basically sprinting. Some people did the 5K AND the 10K which was cool.

29 is pretty good. Sub 10's in that heat is great. I think my first midnight madness was 29:05.

Ran it (5K) for the first time in about eight years (or any other race for that matter). I agree about the heat - that turn on to Elwood Drive into the sun about killed me. I was elated to run a 27:14.

Yeah, I didn't care much for the route. Mostly the Elwood stretch because it was all running into the sun and I nearly tripped when we turned around because my eyes hadn't adjusted from not staring at the sun.

the old midnight madness course was more fun. It ran from JTS up the hill and around those older neighborhoods before coming down the hill on mortenson and then back to the jacobson building. It was a very fast course since the last 1/4th was a nice downhill.

What time of day was this run? The title says "midnight madness".

the 5K was at 7:30 and the 10K was at 8:30ish I think. I'm not sure why its called midnight madness. I figure they would lose a lot of entries if it was that late. I would have preferred running at midnight! Although it was still over 80 degrees at 10:30 last night.

Being a morning runner, I cannot handle those evening heat runs.
