COLUMBIA, Mo. -- DeMarre Carroll, a highly regarded transfer and nephew of Missouri men's basketball coach Mike Anderson, was shot in the ankle early Thursday during a disturbance outside a downtown nightclub.
Carroll, a 20-year-old junior forward from Vanderbilt, was treated and released from a local hospital after the 1:30 a.m. shooting, according to a school spokesman.
At Vanderbilt, Carroll averaged 10.9 points and 6.4 rebounds in 29 games for the Commodores in the 2005-06 season. In a written statement, Anderson called the shooting "a scary situation."

Be thankful the news is slow at ISU.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.
That's horrible. I always feel sick when I read about people who get injured by others when their bodies are their tool. Nobody- athletes to musicians to sculptors- deserves that. "Welcome to Columbia", I suppose. Hope it's nothing major.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I guess I'll give the kid the benefit of the doubt in wanting to play for his uncle, but wow; DeMarre was a major contributor at Vanderbilt, a good basketball school and a wonderful academic institution. He leaves that for Missouri.
I don't want to see anybody shot, but I'd submit he should be slapped upside the head....
Postscript: For any of the older generation, did the title of this thread give you a flashback to Steve Stipanovich?
P.P.S. For the "youngsters", Stipo was an all-american center at Mizzou in the late 1970's who supposedly "shot himself in the foot while cleaning a weapon". While I was still in HS at the time, I was in Hilton for the next Mizzou visit and many ISU students had cap guns. Different times - that would never happen today!
