Bret has never had a running back anywhere close to what Sage had to work with, nor an offensive line, for the most part. I don't think Meyer will play in the NFL and I never said he was better than Sage(from a talent standpoint), but Bret is going to walk out of here with a lot of records and hopefully in the mid 20s for wins. Not a horrible career by any means.

Can he chug the pill? I mean flip it?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Elway's son looking at ISU?
Offer him. We must be talking to him if he has us on his short list. If Oregon and LSU have offered him they must see some potential too. Pay absolutely no attention to the two-star rating. Those ratings are meaningless, especially this early in the process.
Don't care if he runs a 4.8. That's not slow. He probably is raw. He has some important intangibles, like his Hall-of-Fame QB dad who knows a little about football and how to win.
Every time we recruit a phenom Juco kid we take the chance they might not be able to make it academically. He is worth a chance, not just for the novelty of his being John Elway's son, but because he could develop into a great football player.
And I'm a KC Chiefs fan.

Re: Elway's son looking at ISU?
Bates and Arnaud aren't a factor in this. If Elway red shirted he'd be a freshman while Arnaud was a junior and Bates a sophomore, assuming he red shirts this year. Ideally I don't want a freshman QB running the show anyway and he doesn't sound like the 2nd coming of his father. You have to bring other QBs into the program every year. You never know how grades or injuries will turn out. Say Arnaud turns into Seneca Jr. next year and Bates transfers.
Having Boozer and Elway on campus at various times during basketball and football seasons would be PR you just can't buy. If he did end up our QB, it might be worth 1-2 more TV games per year. How about jersey sales? Season tickets? Heck ISU might turn into many Bronco fans favorite school. The list goes on. I think you have to give it a shot.

Re: Elway's son looking at ISU?
I agree with Cyclone90. I don't see downside to Elway's son being on campus, and much potential upside. If he doesn't work out at QB, maybe he can be another Austin Flynn and contribute at another position.

Re: Elway's son looking at ISU?
Just an FYI. The only reason he has an offer from LSU is that the new offensive coordinator (Gary Crowton...ex of BYU and the Chicago Bears) is apparently in love with the kid. He is also the reason that the kid has an offer from Oregon...Crowton came to LSU from Oregon where he had been the OC there. It was Crowton that extended the offers from both Oregon and LSU.
Living in south Louisiana, I can tell you that this has really not been big news down here...and I can assure you that FB recruiting news is generally big news in these parts.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: Elway's son looking at ISU?
You always need good competition at QB and come next season the only QB's that will prolly be on the roster will be Arnaud, Bates and maybe a walk-on or two, you need to have at least 3, prolly 4 scholarship QB's on your roster at one time in my belief cause one can go down pretty damn easily. We might have Mechaelsen if he actually sticks around, but I would guess he might graduate given this year will be his fifth with the program. You need security, maybe Jack isn't the best QB maybe he will turn into one, but we need depth and if he would be willing to compete than I think we go after him and Land and some others pretty hard. I would say with the talent level we can't expect both Arnaud and Bates to be QB's the rest of their time at ISU, only one will, cuz the other is most likely too talented to sit on the bench.

LOL, wow. I dont really want a media frenzy in Ames. I think its a bad thing. It gives exposure, but to who? Do you think all of the sudden Ames would be put on the national scene? We need to win games and get there on our own. Otherwise if we were to have this kid and he graduates, we go back to being nobody. Just that team that Elways kid used to be on. Dont get me wrong, I would love to have him if hes good.

I think, if he's anything like his father, he'll probably end up going to Iowa.
Iowa State doesn't have a dentistry program.
