Also, the poll you mentioned in the question to Gottlieb was a CBSSportsline poll, Gottlieb works for ESPN, I really doubt they care about something on a rival site.

Sign me up for the ever growing minority on Gottlieb, I think DG is pretty sharp in many aspects of his analysis, and I like him much better than Andy Katz... he did give Hilton and our fans props, as well as hickory "house".... ease off, I'm sure the dude eats out a lot across the USA and perhaps he doesn't remember the EXACT name of every eatery... yikes. Would we all bash Kirk Herbstreit or Lee Corso if they said they wouldn't be coming to JTS this year?
I wouldn't bash them for not coming, but I would bash them on being hideously ugly (Corso), and a whore (Herbstreit). Wait, I already do that.Quote:

College Game Day coming to campus is a huge thing...especially for FB. I live in south Louisiana and when they come to LSU you know the game is a big game with national implications that is of interest to the entire country regardless of geographic region.
They have tried to "bottle the same magic" with College Game Day travelling to different campus sites for men's BB. However, in my opinion, they have not been able to make it that big of a deal. They came to Baton Rouge last year for the LSU/UConn game and it just wasn't the same as during FB season...actually nowhere near as big of a deal. I'm not sure why...maybe because there are so many more games in BB and one game just does not mean as much.
But the bottom line is that in order to get College Game Day on campus (FB or BB) you have to have a nationally ranked team and a big game with big implications nationally...that is what they want. Until you have that...no campus visits by the boys from ESPN.
Youve got to earn a game day appearance.
To put it into perspective, as of late we deserve a basketball gameday about as much as we deserve a football one.
I like Gottleib also. He really did a nice job balancing Lavin, Majerus, and the older former coach whose name escapes me.
I remember when he was at Okie State, and that team could have easily won it all that year also. He couldn't shoot a lick, but he'd penetrate, and people would leave their man to help, and he get a ton of assists.
When we played them in the semi-final game (great game, one of the best that year, and Mediacom should show that game instead of the OU game, of course they should show as many games from that year as possible), Larry had all of the inside guys stay with their man, and make Gottleib make shots. It was a little thing, but stuff like that is what makes Larry a great coach. In the end, it was JT and Stevie's three point play bailing us out to come up with the win. I think the final was 64-61, or something like that.
