Seems like once word really got out about this 2 weeks ago, it had no chance of passing. Had this been put to vote a few weeks ago, it would have been very close IMO. Good to see the people out voting.

I don't even live in Des Moines, but I'm thrilled to see this get shot out of the sky. That last part in the KCCI story really hit the nail on the head- people are ****** off with the city and county governments and all the dumb stunts they've pulled in the last few years, and now it's payback time in the worst way.

Burn b*tch burn. This was exactly what I was hoping for. Not only a no, but a hell no. I think this is a symptom of a larger issue. People are fed up with their government on all levels, and it's gone beyond apathy for once. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. Everyone needs to get involved on every level to get things straightened out.

Here is a good stat to ponder (from the KCCI article), the Yes to Destiny people had $750,000 to "promote" this while the "no" people had $7,000. I wonder where that $750,000 came from?? I would bet anything that it is local tax money...just another reason why people don't trust the governments with more of our money.

Looks like our local government has too much money so they can spend it on items like this. With their tab of $250,000 and the $770,000 donated by the companies, some of their initiatives could have had a good start in funding!
