So they want to add left turn lanes to 13th and Grand, which is WAY overdue, and the neighborhood isn't happy. I understand that the people that live there are unhappy, but don't they realize that if they live near one of the busiest intersections in town, that one day the city will come in to expand?
I never thought about this, but yeah that is one of the busiest intersections in town. It seems odd that such a residential street is one of the busiest.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775
Would you have a problem with the city aquiring your property? 8 people will be losing thier homes in this project.
That's the kicker. The bad part is they lose their home so that people can save probably less than a minute on their drives. Not saying this shouldn't be done though just because of how many people this affects.
While I can see how it is a hard thing for the people that would be loosing there homes I really feel something does need to be done at that intersection.
I spent about 20 years living less than a block from there and it got worse and worse every year.
Even in the 80's some residents were calling for action at that intersection.
