Isn't Cuban a Pirates fan? He's got the cash and would bring some excitment, but I would rather have one of the Chicago based consortiums win the bidding.

Cuban is a brilliant business man and has done well with the Mavs. The guy is odd, but you can't knock his production.

I'm not a baseball fan but if I were and rooted for the Cubs - I'd be pulling for Cuban.

It was stated long ago that Cuban was interested, and that MLB doesn't want him as an owner. I would love to have him, but I don't see it happening.

As a Cub fan, I'd rather there be no Cubs than this guy even touching the team. Without a doubt, he's the most annoying personality in sports and there are plenty of successful business exec's without emotional complexes for the Cubs to have to deal with his daily antics.

That said, he's not going to win the bidding war anyway...

As a Cubs fan I'd love to have Cuban buy the team. I would bet you he'd bring a World Series Championship to that team. Although I think his chances are slim because Selig and the MLB owners probably don't like him and will try and block a deal if he were to be the front runner.

Please, I wish you guys would leave the guy alone now. He only did what the 10 other guys around him did, and what any of us would have done, and gone for a foul ball that was out of play (even though what's his name did have a shot at it). Like I said, there are 10 other guys that went after it, but then again, it's easy to pin a total collapse on one person, especially when it's someone that looks like he does, isn't it?

The whole Selig-Cuban issue is really a non-issue. That's the media conjuring up a story. The real story is this:

Monetarily, the Cubs are one of the most valuable sports franchises. They play in arguably the biggest sports town in the nation. They sell ridiculous amounts of merchandise, practically sellout every home game, and increase the road spectatorship better than anybody except the red sox and perhaps the yankees. Can't even imagine the increases in all those categories should the team be pushing the brewers late. The Tribune Co. will take the highest offer and with all the hype this is getting somebody will even overbid. Cuban won't be that guy. I saw a list of net-worth among bidders (I think it was a Trib story a ways back) that had him at the bottom or near the bottom. He, for all his assets, doesn't belong in this Clydesdale race. Just another non-story that the media will squeeze the life out of until this thing resolves.

Cuban would be willing to spend which would be good for the Cubbies. However I'm not interested in having an owner sit behind home plate and yell at the umps about balls and strikes.
