Being too lazy to look it up and as Oakland is my favorite AL team, haven't they had quite a bit more success making the playoffs than Minnesota recently? I would assume their payrolls are similar.

Pretty comparable in the recent history if you ask me...
Some scouts were saying today that Kendall is all washed up - cannot hit, run, or throw. Might be able to call a game. Should fit in well with the Cubs.
Barry Ball. Too good not to read:

Well Kendell laid an egg in his first game as a Cub (not that it means anything).
Soriano couldn't buy a hit last night when he had some chances in a couple big spots.
Frustrating game, walking in the go ahead run and then not attempting to throw out a dribbler up the 1st base line. Zito and Marshall looked good last night.
I am an avid A's fan and I don't think that BB is "unloading" Kendall, but he is overpaid (at least the Pirates are still picking up part of the tab) and they have some good young catchers waiting in the wings. Since the A's are on a 10 game skid, there may be more "unloading" going on before the trade deadline.
I see Kendall had a rough night last night but give him some time to get familar with the staff and I think this was a pretty good deal to make.
I went to the I-Cubs game last night and Dumpster threw a nice 1-2-3 inning. Pie made a really big mistake that cost the I-Cubs the game last night. I didn't stay to the end as the game didn't start until about 7:45 and went into extra innings but what looked to be the game winning catch Pie backed up against the CF wall let a fly ball the wind carried bounce right off his glove allowing Round Rock to score the tying run in the last inning (7th due to finish of a suspended game beforehand.) We were sitting in the RF seats right along the RCF wall so had a perfect view of it and that was a catch he should of made.
We left after 10 innings as it was almost 11pm by then and I see they went 13 innings and they had to bring catcher Mike Mahoney in once they ran out of pitchers and he gave up the winning run.
