ok, well according to espn.com and cubs.com Sean Marshall has nothing to do with this trade. I had to rewind Baseball Tonight a couple of times and they did say Sean Marshall.

Looks like the A's are sellers now. I was up in Minnesota to see the last 3 games of the Twins-A's series. It was good to see the Twins knock the A's out of contention and to get back into the race themselves. They played some very solid, consistent ball, and the starting pitchers have really been strong. Tigers and Indians, watch out!

Cubs acquire catcher Kendall from A's
Chicago deals backstop Bowen, Minor League lefty Blevins

CHICAGO -- The Cubs shuffled catchers Monday, acquiring catcher Jason Kendall from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for catcher Rob Bowen and Minor League pitcher Jerry Blevins. Before Monday's game, the Cubs designated Bowen for assignment. With the addition of Kendall, they will be back at three catchers on the 25-man roster.
Kendall, 33, was batting .226 with two homers in 80 games with the Athletics. He'll be back in the National League, where he starred for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1996-2004.
"This gives Jason, whom I have nothing but respect for, a chance to go somewhere he can play every day -- and play for a very good team with a good chance of making the playoffs," A's general manager Billy Beane said.
Kendall is expected to join the Cubs for Tuesday's game. He has hit .297 in his last 25 games, and batted .286 in Interleague Play this year.
When the season began, Michael Barrett and Henry Blanco were the Cubs' catchers, but Barrett was dealt to the San Diego Padres on June 20 in exchange for Bowen, because the team wanted better defense. Blanco has been sidelined since May 31 with a herniated disk in his neck.
On Friday, the Cubs called up Geovany Soto, who was hitting .341 at Triple-A Iowa, and also have Koyie Hill on the roster. Hill started Monday's game batting .148 but did hit his second homer of the season leading off the second inning.
Blevins, a 6-foot-6 left-hander, was 3-2 with a 1.02 ERA for Class A Daytona and Double-A Tennessee this year, appearing in 38 games.

Jason Kendall was MUCH better in the NL than he was in the AL. That said, he's an upgrade to what they have, but really not much more than that. Decent contact hitter, weak arm, no power...but hey, better than what they have.
