26 votes in and it's looking like the popular opinion is a 7-5 season, with an outside chance at an 8-4 season...

75% think that we will beat KU AT KU? Hmmm. They have more returning starters than us and they put a freaking beat down on us last year. As did K-State but at least that one is at home.

I really hope people are not setting their expectation at 7 wins.

2 people think Kent State's gonna win! (gimme a break) ...or a few Hawkeye fans have weiseled their way on this board. I prefer the latter.

Heck this team was 4 plays from not winning a game last year and we have less talent on paper than that team. Maybe they just put the koolaid down and are genuinly concerned.

understand that... however, the year before that we were 4 plays away from going undefeated, and we hadn't lost that much talent. Now considering Kent State went 6-6 last year, (3-4 on the road) makes me wonder which team has more (or less) talent. This year, Kent is suiting up 22 Seniors & 82 other guys. Of those 22 Seniors, I'm not sure how many are return starters. For the record, Kent State lost to Ball State 30-6, Buffalo 41-14, Ohio 17-7, and Minnesota 44-0. (just to name a few teams I'm sure we could've taken IMO) I still believe we have a goldmine of talent on this team that was here 2 years ago, that haven't really shined yet. Let's just hope, (for now) that Gene Chizik & Co. can polish that gold and make us shine on the football field the way we know we can.

I know a couple of KU fans who are 100% confident that KU will crash and burn late in the season, including a loss to us. Plus, we have the added incentive of avenging last year's game.

I think I put us at 7-5. I think it is possible, if Gene and the staff can get the most out of the players, which I believe they will. Last year we weren't a team that should have gone 4-8(or 0-12 for that matter). If things work out, we should beat expectations this year.

Re: 44 days till Kick-off!

We were also 1 good offensive coordinator short of a few more wins and a line that knew how to block.

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

Re: 44 days till Kick-off!

6-6 would be a great season this year. It would be 6 more games than we should have won last year.

My biggest hope for the beginning on the Chizik era is to soon reach the level where we win all the games we are supposed to (think non-BCS conference teams, and Baylor)... without giving me a heart attack.

“My expectation of Iowa State is that we should be able to win games against great football teams. If I expected anything less, I wouldn’t be here, and they shouldn’t be playing for me.” — Gene Chizik

I am not much of a kool aide fan. I am not giving into to the 6-6 would be a good season. This team is going to come out and smack people in the mouth. Sometimes the opponent will go down sometimes they will knock you on your backside. This coaching staff is not going to let our players get knocked down and stay there. This season 8-4!

Which according to college football magazines and not us biased cyclone fans means winning 1 conference game...maybe 2.
