More college football. That certainly doesn't suck.

I still think it's a bit of a band aid yet it would be progress.

Finally some progress out of this BCS mess....Put the top 8 in a tourney and let the rest of the riff raff fight for the bowl games.

Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea - a college football tournament with all D-I teams. That's a lot of college football!

The article and quotes in it keep sayin they're not going to have a playoff, just the +1 system, but really that is a playoff - a 4 team playoff. That's always what I'd envisioned as the solution to the BCS problem. Really, any playoff with more than 4 teams would just be too much. I like it.

The problem is even with a 4 team playoff, teams like Utah and Boise would not have gotten in in the past few years. Anyone that goes through a Div 1A schedule and goes undefeated should be granted a chance at the "big boys."

Considering this is the New York Post, I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in it. The Post is just a tabloid - sometimes they get things right. Let me hear it from a reputable source and then I'll get excited.

By the way, I'm not dissing the +1 idea - I love the idea. I just want to hear it from a real paper, ESPN, CBS, etc.

Under the new format, the top four teams would be seeded, probably using a voter/computer formula similar to the current BCS system and a sixth major bowl game would be created.
The four top-seeded teams would play in two "semifinal" games, using the existing bowls - Orange, Sugar, Rose, Fiesta and the current BCS title game on a rotating basis - with the two winners meeting in a newly created bowl. Theoretically, it would leave less argument over who's No. 1.

I think it's dumb to create another "major bowl game". They already have a "BCS Title Game", go ahead and use it.

It's actually not that bad of an idea.

Step 1: Expand Division 1 college football to 128 teams.

Step 2: Have an 8 game schedule (6 conference games + 2 non-conference games)

Step 3: Begin 128 team tournament. The final 2 will have played an additional 7 games for a total of 15 (one more than they do now).

How about that for excitement?!
