I think that we might even see a home field advantage develop now. The whole play to keep the game close, and sit on leads did everything in its power to deflate the crowd.
The exception was the 04-05 when we had a few playmakers, that were able to cause turnovers. But other than that, we didn't do a lot to get the crowd into the game defensively.
Offensively, we had some playmakers over the years, but the conservative nature of the coaching staff (other than Loney), took a lot of momentum away over the years.

Not one of the players i know or speak with will put a number of wins out there. Because that is not what Chizik is teaching them. The only thing close to that nature i have heard is from Ace Bowen, when he says we are going to win some games this year... I take that as, we are looking good, i think we will win more than 4. Ofcourse every player has it in their heart and mind that they want to win 10+ games and make it to the big 12 championship, we will just have to see how they apply that attitude

are sniffing too much Lincoln glue these days. ISU had Nebraska on the ropes last year and Flynn's obvious touchdown was not called. There were a couple of other obvious calls missed by the officials. Mac just kept smiling as usual. ISU has enough talent to line up and play with anyone but Texas and OU. And Texas will still let you play with them because many of their players don't get up for every game. See the Iowa game against Texas. If ISU's stupid safety named banks hits Chandler instead of flailing at the ball, ISU beats Iowa last year. ISU has a problem with talent at safety and outside linebacker. Those positions last year were simply terrible. I'm not going to get in to how poorly I think ISU was coached, but it reminded my of Seneca's year after the loss to OU.

How Nebraska kept the score that close is beyond me.

Domination? you must be a husker fan.
I was at the game. If Flynn's touchdown counts (Replay showed it was good.), the Huskers are on the ropes. You guys are dreaming if you think NU has some how regained elite level talent. ISU can play with anyone in the north and if Chizik can coach at all, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if ISU beats NU in Lincoln.
Remember two years ago? This isn't even close to the Nebraska of old. Furthermore, they will miss their quarterbacker. He took a lot of shots and stayed healthy. He was tough. For some reason I don't see Keller being quite as tough.
Domination? LOL Whatever.
Nebraska will be back when ISU isn't throwing the ball all over the field on them and the Nebraska offense is dominant. Not going to happen without prop 48 players like they had before.
The north is there for the taking.

You are right, though. There was some pretty bad officiating.

Nebraska had multiple 100 yard rushers against us, and Zac Taylor was 17-21 passing. They played ultra conservative because they were never challenged by us in the second half. Now if Flynn gets that TD and Mac doesn't go for that horrible fake FG, things could have changed. I don't look at the Nebbie game as a guarenteed loss by anymeans, but we better play alot better on defense.

The north is there for the taking. I agree that Sam Keller shouldn't be considered NU's next Heisman trophy winner, but at least take a look at where he came from. He's the missing cog in Callahan's west coast offense. Even without Purify, they have a wealth of receivers that are on the same level as our own. Nebraska is not the walk in the park you're making it out to be.

No one here said NU has returned to an elite talent level.
What some of us are saying, is NU had their way with us. The poor officiating was not going to have an impact on the final outcome. If anything (if we would have gotten Flynn's TD), it would've been worse - as NU would have woke up and started playing hard ball with us.
Very early in the game I never felt we had a chance. Much like the Texas Tech game - even when we pulled it within 2 points - I knew what our fate was going to be.
The only game we lost that I thought we had a shot early on was the K-State game - we were up 10 points early. Alas, we managed to not score a point over 10 and allow them 31 unanswered.

Nebraska ran the ball at will. They toyed with us.

I agree.. Nebraska did anything they wanted at will on us, Our team came out flatter than they had ever been that night. I actually gained a little bit of respect for Callahan that night for not running up the score. It was a sore game to have all of that gold in there and a dead silent mumble because the team cant get anything going. I think those days are over with though, I think it is move the ball or bust. We just have to accept the fact that we werent good last year and we hope better things are on the horizon. Things so far are looking good, there is reason for optimism. If we still Had Dan here i dont think anyone would be near as excited. I think i would be most likely somewhere around... I think we might get a bowl game this year, i mean i hope they will improve atleast 2 games. But right now there is a bright spectrum and i am likeing it.

I think it's going to be very important for this team to really trash Kent State in the opening game to gain some confidence to go with the bravado. If they can win by 4 or 5 tds, it could propel them through the first 4 games, and prepare them mentally for the second 4.
