it is to static right now. an instantaneous increase with a purchase would be cool because you could see ur purchase added to the total right then....but that would probably be a bit of work too.

I still enjoy seeing how many tickets we sell each day (well now its each week). Hopefully we get to 34,000 before the beginning of August.

have student tickets gone on sale yet? I'd like them see sell there extra 800 tickets (above 7,000 included in tickett counter-I think) and get that on the total as well.

Yes, they're on sale, but students don't buy them at least until they get back to school. So it'll be another month yet before you see any student tickets going off the shelves. There's always another small push after the first game, as all the people whose friends convinced them to buy a single-game ticket for the opener realize how much fun it is and go buy tickets of their own.
