I, for one, wanted Gibbs badly, not only because he was a homegrown talent, but also because as of late we have had smaller (either shorter or slighter of build) guards. He would have given us a different dimension than what we have on the team. Who wouldn't have wanted that? Congrats to him that he is living a dream with the Zags - I have nothing but respect for their program.
You won't hear me saying he wasn't that good just because he didn't commit here - we will leave that line to some on the board of our neighbors to the east. He is a loss. The good news is we do have some depth at guard, albeit precious little experience, with this year's class and next. While we don't have a 6'5" guy with handles and an outside shot, we aren't bereft of guards for the next few years leaving a gaping hole at the PG position. Having said that, the starter of this thread has a point that is also valid. Look no further than the class of 5 RBs when Scales came in, yet we have a shortage (current not counting the new recruits coming in) at that position due to numerous types of attrition.
