    Dan McCarney Story in Register

Eight coaches have a current longer tenure at one school than D-Mac? Can you name them?

Frank Beamer Virginia Tech has been there for ever. Phil Fulmer Tennessee would be close. You have to figure it would be the powerhouse schools with winning traditions.

41 years? Criminy... I had no idea that JoePa had been at Penn State that long.

Coach Mac is really getting up there in all sorts of seniority comparisons. 1st in the Big 12, 2nd in the combined Big 12 and Big 10 (the Big 23?), and now 8th in all of the D-I schools. Good for him, for sticking with the program!

JoePa is almost 80 years old. He's been there forever. 2006 - 41 = 1965. Lyndon Johnson was president. Postage stamps were .08 and a new car cost $500. I'm just making those up, except LBJ.

Paterno started at Penn St. in 1966. A first class stamp was .05, so that was a pretty good guess zdorr.

It was also the year Texas Western defeated Kentucky for the NCAA bball championship.
