Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
today was exceptionally on point. Used the "shill" word when talking about him. Lack of credibility has always been a big weakness of Jon's radio work.
'tiny little text etched into her neck it said "jesus lived and died for all your sins." she's got blue black ink and it's scratched into her lower back. it said: "damn right i'll rise again." yeah, damn right you'll rise again.' -
Re: Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
Speaking of Tirrell, tomorrow is August 1, the day he has been ranting and raving that single game tickets will go on sale for the Iowa game. How many are going to call him out?

Re: Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
I don't know that Marty has said that Pollard will cave August 1, he just thinks that tickets will be available for that game some time before 9/15. Or at least that's what he says. I think that he says that not because he believes it, but because he wants to stir the pot a little.
It's pretty obvious that Pollard isn't going to cave, since they're going to push 36k season tickets. Not that it wouldn't be nice to collect an extra $300k for that one game.

The Kirk Ferentz thing seemed to carry on a little long, but is a very valid point. My only thought on that is his salary is based on his work up to that point and hoping that it continues, so he rightfully deserves it. Now can you really reduce a coaches pay, espcially someone who has been such a hot comodity as kirk, probably not. There is no doubt that his current record does not live up to the expectations, but you cant take away his past accomplishments that have helped the university.
As for the ticket issue, who wouldn't have second guessed JP on his buisness plan for selling tickets. Even as a cyclone fan it seems stupid to turn away revenue for the university just because its a rival team, but JP has stuck to his work and I award him for that. Now for Marty to go out and make a statement that JP will cave and sell single game tickets could have really gone either way.
Although, the yelling does sound like dogs barking. Maybe worse.

Lil Cyclone Club
Pollard won't need to sell single game tickets to the iowa game. Figure 36,000 season tickets + 4,000 hawks + 5000 tent tickets + 175 in the band, that right there is over 45,000...
Then did anyone notice that any kid 8th grade or under can join the Lil Cyclone Club? And that by joining that the kid can attend EVERY football game? They have to sit in the grass, but I think that fact these kids can attend the iowa game could add a significant number of people to the game. (Chalk one up for me...)
So, basically if nothing is done there will probably be between 45,000 and 47,000 people at the game.

The Lil Cyclone Club can go to every game EXCEPT Iowa. There is usually one a year that they can't go to. The other is Nebraska.

Membership includes "admission to all Iowa State athletics events (except for Big 12 and Iowa men's basketball games)"
I'd take this to mean all football games.

Re: Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
Aren't there quite a few tickets that are also give to Iowa High School coaches? I think that's that case and if so that would add to the total as well.

Re: Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
I am looking at the membership that I got in the mail for my 3 year old, and it DOES say,
Free Admission to:
Football (includes iowa game)

2009 FLHR - Vivid Black

This was the policy in the past but I noticed on the website that it did say all the games so I emailed and got this response: Q: Will Lil' Cyclone Club members be allowed to attend this years Iowa vs. Iowa State football game? A: The Lil' Clone Club membership allows all members to attend the Iowa State/Iowa football game this year as well as the men's basketball game. Lil' Clone Club -
Re: Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
And the attendance record remains with D-2 UNI? Thats tough to explain. We are ina dominant football conference and our biggest draw is UNI.

Yeah and it was really a bad idea to open up all those extra tickets for UNI last year. What is your point? What JP is doing, he is doing for the future of ISU, and Marty does not get that.

Marty doesn't get a lot of things, although they are right about Jon Miller being a shill. Tirrell (sp?) is a pot stirring idiot.

Re: Marty and Miller and the Jon Miller bashing
I think Jon is coming around. We are just used the exact opposite with Deace. He was an ISU schill and hated EIU. Shoe is just on the other foot now. At least Jon does not spend all his time talking about freaking horse racing and betting, I have 0 interest in that.
