I am going to turn independent as soon as possible. Mitt Freakin Romneys campaign calls my house every day. I would never vote for that tool, I told them next time they call I am voting for Hillary since she is the lesser of two evils.

Wow, this thread is pretty amazing. Unions hurt worker's rights? It's their fault all of their jobs are in Mexico and China? How dare someone actually demand safe working conditions and pay and benefits that will give them a chance to support a family in this country.

That, in most circumstances, was a legitimate argument 50 years ago. Working conditions are much safer than they used to be. And are you trying to tell me that today's industrial worker can't support a family on $35/hour? That's ridiculous. I have a B.S. from ISU most union workers are making FAR more money than I am.

I get his calls, or recorded messages, all the time to. I don't see how they thing sending me the same recorded message is going to make me vote for the guy anyway.

Caller ID is one of the greatest things in the world. It says "Political Call" and I just let the sucker ring off the hook. About the only thing that annoys me is the ring, but at least I get the satisfaction of them not being able to talk to me.

Wages that support a family and safe work environments are only there because of unions and that's exactly what's stopping companies from backsliding on those things.

I can think of many many more bad things about Republicans and the Republican party that will forever keep me from voting for them, but I won't instigate the riot that would probably follow if I did list them. I do agree, unions have outlived their value in a lot of aspects of todays world, but compared to Reps and their backers, I would think unions would be way at the bottom of the list of political evils.

And they are driving up the hourly wage so high and going on strike so much that people can't afford to pay the bills. Then the company gives in and pay's the hourly wage and starts in motion to plan to go somewhere else where they can pay a fair wage to the employee's. Like I said the unions had there place and time. They were legit and did good for a lot of people. Now they just are gready guys who are killing the labor force by demanding to much money. By the way. If you don't like your job, How you are treated, How much you get paid there is one simple solution these days. QUIT and get a new job.

Where are you getting $35/hr? I'd bet my house that the vast majority of unionized labor forces are not earning that kind of wage.

These sources might be a bit out of date, but it shows how far off your $35/hr number is.

So are you pro union guys telling us that unions have been working for the workers for over 50 years and still have not managed to get them a good working wage? Good Benefits? and every thing else the union is supposed to do for the working man.

Re: Another reason I don't support Democrats

Oh please. If you're going to make this argument, then I get to say that if you vote Republican then you're supporting the likes of the Enron executives who pilfer the workers' retirement plans to enhance their own profits.

I agree that many of the unions, like many people with power, have taken it a bit too far. But the unions have done MUCH more good than they have bad. Maybe they're outdated a little, and maybe they are a portion of the reason that outsourcing has become so popular. But the only reason the big companies are moving to other countries is so that they can exploit their sub-standard working conditions and wages to turn a larger profit. Instead of getting rid of the unions here in order to keep the jobs, maybe we need to support the organization of unions overseas to prevent the exploitation of foreign workers.

I choose power-drunk unions over ultra-greedy executives anyday.
