Hopefully we hear nothing but good news in the next couple weeks. I really hope no one is injured, we really dont have the depth. If anyone hears anything about goings on, post em up.
I know theyre just in Helmets, pads, and shorts, but itll be great to hear about all of the new guys and how they play against what we had.

Despite all of the conditioning and the fear I would have for the first day of practice. I am told by a certain source that one team leader was out late last night drinking and smoking up a storm at the bars. Hopefully the players can commit their health as well as time to the season. No reason to make it harder than it is.

Brief stub up on cyclones.com: Chizik Enjoys First "Fall" Practice - CYCLONES.com—The Official Web Site of Iowa State University Athletics
The second paragraph gets me all tingly. AMES, Iowa -- It certainly didn't seem like fall. Temperatures flirted with the 90-degree mark as Iowa State's football team opened practice for the 2007 season on the intramural fields east of Jack Trice Stadium. But new Iowa State head football coach Gene Chizik was all business as the Cyclones began work in preparation for a season that opens Aug. 30 against Kent State in Ames. The practice had hardly started when Chizik shook up the team by making his players start over on a different field.
"We started our stretch and he didn't think we were doing it to his liking," said Iowa State wide receiver Todd Blythe. "He sent us across the field to start over, which is what he should do. He told us that he wasn't going to coach down to our level; we were going to practice up to his level. He already takes so much pride in being a Cyclone after just seven months here."
Chizik's team worked on special teams and then spent a large portion of the afternoon getting back in gear.
"The tempo picked up as practice went on," Chizik said. "I think they know where they stand after getting back on the field after spring football. It will take us a week of review to get us back to where we were after the spring game. But that is normal."
The team will practice again Thursday and Friday before Saturday's media day at Jack Trice Stadium. | | |

This coach gives me the chills...I have the feeling that he can make an average team good for some reason just because of the little details and structure.

They did a story on the channel 2 news in Cedar Rapids (I was surprised as $hit considering they are the "home of the hawks"). Bylthe was saying that even though he was in the best shape of his life, he was still gasping for air because they are always moving in practice. No stopping.
We're gonna suprise some people this year.
| Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

They did a Cyclone story in Cedar Rapids that didn't involve us being complete losers? Holy **** hell must have frozen over!
And the more I hear Bylthe (or anyone on that team) talk... the more excited I get about this season... all those people that are predicting us to finish last in the big 12 will be eatting so much crow that it might finally be safe for people to walk around campus with out fear of getting crapped on...

90 degree weather? I thought they said we are too far north in the barren cold wasteland to recruit....freakin' ridiculous...If anything: It's TOO hot in Iowa, It's not like these guys have to play/practice like this in dec/jan/feb....
4 WEEKS CLONES! Let's show some teams what underdogs do in the movies this year!
