I read on there rivals board that it's down to Iowa and Florida for Colton Iverson. Is it me or do Hawk fans always think recruits come down to picking them or someone else. They thought Gibbs was going to be between them and Wisky. Turns out it was ISU and the Zags. It just kills me.

Does the rivals board cite any type of source?

What? You didn't know that the Hawkeye fan's voice is all the source you'll ever need?

Iowa went to a BCS bowl a few years ago and got smoked. So clearly they are one of the nation's elite programs. And yes, it translates to basketball too.

Small town kid, probably not leaving the midwest - It will come down to Nebraska, Creighton, Minnesota, Iowa, ISU IMO - Minnesota or ISU.

Let's be fair - He said: Well if it really is between Iowa and Florida it should be an easy choice figuring he doesn't have an offer from Florida and he is wanting to decide fairly soon. I don't mind a little hawk bashing, but he just said if, and he didn't suggest it was actually down to Iowa and Florida. Plus, in the article yesterday Iverson hadn't eliminated anybody yet, so obviously there isn't a source.

I did not phrase my original post very well. I meant the posters on the Iowa Rivals board have it down to them and Florida. Not the staff at Rivals.

When the wild blows out of the east, it gets warmer in Des Moines.
Must be the hot air spewing from the mouths of those Iowa City Hawkeye fans.

My roomate has a similar trait he picked up on the Hawk boards. Nearly every good player that develops into one of the best players in the country, turns out they almost went to Iowa. He reads on the Hawk boards then regurgitates that basically anyone that went to USC in the past 5 years had it narrowed down to Iowa and USC, and every Michigan commit had it down to Iowa and Michigan. Same goes for OSU, Miami, Florida, etc. Its actually quite comical.

The thing is about those fine folks is that they have talked themselves into the belief that TL was every bit the hire that Tubby was at UM, and even Bielien was at Mich.
God bless them, they have the ego to believe that since TL was coach of the year, people will be lining up to play for him. You must remember that Iowa won a Big 10 title in 1980, so they are completely relevant in college basketball. | | |

The reason it's funny is that a bunch of message board posters(like Myself but hawk fans) are mad that Gatens fell to 120 in the rivals rankings. Meanwhile Gibbs is up to ranked 99th. They all know that Gatens is a better player and nobody is sure why Gibbs is ranked 99th. So they have never seen either play but they know who is better. It's great. Hmmm.... Gibbs commits to Gonzaga and his rating goes up while Gatens commits to EICC and his rating goes down.
Tells me alot about what the "experts" think about the state of Gonzaga and EICC basketball.

Man are they full of themselves over there. Can you imagine how much worse it would have been if Gibbs would have chose ISU over Gonzaga? That would have been an explosion that would make Hiroshima look like a firecracker.

This isn't an Iowa thing - the same thing, nearly verbatim, would have happened here.
By the way Gatens is ranked #72 by Scout and Gibbs is not ranked in the top 100.
