OT: 17 kids???

Maybe this is old news here but can't remember seing a thread on it:

Who in their right mind would want so many kids? Wonder how much of our tax dollars are going to support that family... I can't get their webpage to come up (www.duggarfamily.com) but find it funny the husband's name is Jim Bob and they are from the south. Although they do look halfway normal (and I couldn't resist using this picture either):

I've got no problem with it. Look at Europe, their population is decreasing. The government almost has to beg people to have kids. The US might be the same way if it weren't for immigration.

I don't see any evidence that the family relies on the state for welfare (that would be socially irresponsible). That's A LOT of taxible write-offs though.

While that is a large amount of children - it appears they are not only a self-supported family, but they also claim to be debt free, a claim very few Americans, including my-no-children-self can make.

Jim Bob is a state congressman, though I'm not sure what his day-job was before that. Now they make returns off of television shows on Discovery as well.

I remember watching a show on them last year on TLC:

- The dad is a real estate guy

- kids are home schooled

- very religious

- built their own house

And that would be a good thing. We need to (NOT CLOSE) but slow down the border in a big way. 850,000+ legal and 350,000+ illegal immigrants coming each year is way to many.

Whoever questions the tax $$$ this family might eat up, you are barking up the wrong tree, I can promise you the 1.2 mil + I just mentioned are eating up a whole lot more.

Well I'll give them props that they aren't some inbred hillbillies on welfare. Still though, how can you keep sane with 17 kids? Financial concerns aside I'd be worried about their kids mental health. How do you give fair attention to 17 kids? What kind of "real world" interaction do they get outside of the home? Plus with him as a congressman how much is he home or is he one of these guys elected that never shows up to vote? Wish their website would load for me so I can read some more on these folks but it times out.

Ahhhhhh, none of our tax money. Funny that people are worried about tax money going to these people but not the hundreds of thousands of illegals in this country bogging down the schools, heath care system, etc.

Well I'm a stickler for about anything my tax money goes to because a lot of it is going to waste I'm sure. Sorry I didn't mention this in my post, next time I'll be sure to make a list...

So, after discovering your fear of them reaping the benefits of your tax dollars were unfounded, you start questioning their parenting abilities and judgment? What is your next concern? That they'll stop going to church?
