I suggest that you hang out where 756 lands. Then you auction that baby off, and share it with all your fanatic buddies -
Golden Gate overlook - north of bridge is an amazing observation point
wish I could remember the name of the place near the wharf that serves Irish coffee.... yum!
Baker Beach is another great place to view the bridge and take a picture and I believe your are thinking of Kennedy's Irish Pub.
Also, if you love great seafood, Scoma's on Pier 47 is the place to go. Stay away from all the restaurants on Pier 39.
While you are at the game get a Baby Bull Tri-Tip sandwich from Orlando's and a basket of Gilroy's garlic fries from the concessions.

Here are a couple of fun ideas for cheap travel:
Stop by a Ghirardelli chocolate shop for the free samples
Stop by a Double Rainbow ice cream shop and get the free samples.
Find a park and listen to live music.
Eat breakfast at a real diner. Try the specials.

We got tickets to an afternoon Giants game late in the week, that should be fun, especially if Bonds can hit one that day. Other than that, I am totally free. I am staying downtown right by Moscone. Catch the ball so you can retire!!

Well, ask your brother to aim inside then. -

Re: Headed to SF! What to do?
I haven't been to SF since the early 90s, but North Beach Pizza was awesome.
We also went to some place called the Mitchell Brother's O'Farrell theatre.
Very interesting.

Re: Headed to SF! What to do?
Whenever I go to SF on business, I never have time to do anything other than work!!
Great food all over town. My wife and I took a bus tour when we first got there with a guide and it was a good base of info and provided some good ideas of stuff to do.
SF has a real homeless problem, so the volume of begging going on will make you think you are in a third world country. You will encounter the most aggressive homeless beggars you will ever meet. They are a protected class in SF.

The name of the place with the Irish coffee is Buena Vista, and yes it is not too far from the wharf and near the Ghirardelli factory. They claim to have served the first Irish coffee in the US, or something like that. Whether or not that is true isn't important....the Irish coffee is amazing. A friend made me go to this place.....I didn't really want to go since I have had plenty of Irish coffees in my life.....and it was great...highly recommended.
Other than that....Chinatown is really cool, and I had fun walking around Union Square. Also, go to a Giants game if possible...its a beautiful stadium and a good time.
