So I am involved with a keeep league that allows me to keep 3 players. So I thought I would turn to my fellow CF members to throw out their two cents.
I have: Drew Brees, Larry Johnson, Cedric Bensen, Maurice Jones-Drew, Terrell Owens, Marques Colston, Jeremy Shockey, Antonio Gates, and Brylon Edwards
These are all possilbe choices to keep, any suggestions? I currenly have chosen Brees, Johnson, and Bensen but have toyed with the idea of not keep Brees and sticking with Jones-Drew instead as RB's are sometimes hard to come by.

My .02 would be Brees, Gates, and either Johnson or Jones-Drew. If everyone gets to keep their best 3 players you're not going to find a better QB and Brees has become one of the best. Gates because he's the best TE out there, in some cases better than any WR you could find. Johnson is a gamble because of contract issues in KC. Ordinarily I'd say these three, no question, but with the kind of stud that Jones-Drew was last year, it makes this pick tough.

Brees, Gates and Johnson
Owens is well into his 30s so don't include him. Brees is steady and at the top of his game right now. Gates is a monster

I would have to keep Brees, LJ, and Gates. TO might have a great year, but you never know. Brees will probably be the 2nd best QB this year. You can always pick up another RB or try to get Benson with your 1st pick.

Keepers are a little different ... depends what you think of LJ ... I really don't think you can go wrong going with any combination of: Brees, LJ, Gates, & MJD
Personally I would hold on to MJD - guy's already a stud and won't take the huge hits that LJ takes because of they're differing running styles. He's going to have a long LdT-esque career once Fred Taylor dies (hopefully this season)
I HATE the idea of keeping a TE, but that's my annual redraft experiance talking ... any chance someone would bite on a trade for LJ and Gates or Brees and Gates? You could try to bait the LT or Manning owners ... though its probably for nil.

I would keep Jones-Drew for sure, especially if this is a league that you will be in for a while. He is the best young player you have. For this year, I would also add in Brees and LJ. The only hesitation I have for LJ is that his offensive line is getting poor and there is a new full time QB so defenses may stack the line and dare the Chiefs to pass. If they can, no problem. If they can't, could be a very long year for LJ.

Here was my thinking after seeing who the others are keeping. Pretty much every RB is taken besides C.Williams, A.Green, W.Dunn, and the rookie M.Lynch(?spelling). So with LJ having holdout issues and possibly not playing right away, and then keeping Brees and Gates, that leaves me with a very limited supply of running backs to take. Plus I have 11th pick as I went to the finals last year. So because of that thats why I chose to keep LJ for the sake that he is a solid #1 if playing. I kept Bensen because he is now #1 at Chicago and could have a break through. And I agree on keeping Jones-Drew, but since he has to share carries with not only Taylor but now their healthy FB (name skips me right now) his production will be limited although he could still have an outstanding year.
What do others think?

What do others think? So who is a possibility with the 11th pick? I'm assuming a lot of TEs are out there that you could possibly take a hit on Gates.
Do you already know who others are releasing? Surely some of them have to be in as tight of bind as you are ...
If RBs are truely that scarce, you may have to go LJ, Brees and MJD. You'll be sorry if you keep Benson, the guy has disappointed from the get-go and only starts now after being embarrassed two years straight by an average RB2.
I know having Gates is awesome, but the 11th pick might allow you to get him back, or at the very least book-end some big time WRs as you'll be set at QB, RB1 & RB2. The second go round get a RB3 and either a backup QB or a TE depending how things are going. There are really a ton of viable options at TE - just no one of Gate's caliber.
just my 2 cents ... good luck, it's draft day for me.

I keep toying with the idea of letting Johnson go and keeping Bates as I see there are some rookie Running backs who could break out, but I just cant justify it. I may just end up sticking with what is chosen above.

Brees Gates and LJ if he plays preseason. Otherwise dub Colston for LJ.
