Mediacom DVR Question

Does anyone know if you can hook your computer up to your Mediacom DVR to put your recordings on your computer? I have a USB 2.0 port on the front of mine, so I wondered if anyone has ever hooked it up to their computer???

Re: Mediacom DVR Question

Highly doubtful, they are all encrypted to prevent this very thing. I know you cannot do it with tivos or any directv models.

While I don't know for sure how to... I am sure with Google, you can do anything. most of these will require you to remove the hard drive and hook it up to your PC (IDE cables). With a special piece of software (again Google), you should be able to read, record, write too it.

- keep.

Re: Mediacom DVR Question

Mediacom usually only enables a fraction of the features that the boxes are usually capable of. I know that on their DVR boxes, you can use some codes found online to get into the BIOS menu and enable other features and even get a better HD picture. I'm sure one could Google the model number of the box and get quite a few results. Most cable companies use different variations of the same boxes.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Re: Mediacom DVR Question

Im a cableone customer....barf.... But one of the reps told me how to get into a hidden menu for changing HD settings and such. I think the features you are looking for are controlled by a cable company designed firmware which may not have those features enabled or able to be. You can probably find another firmware, but you run the risk of the cable company charging you heavy when they get their boxes back.
