    Who loves VMware?

Who here uses it? Gripes, raves, other comments? Will you buy the stock when it releases this week? Intel loaded up on 219 million worth of the IPO and I believe Cisco is looking to get a huge chunk and take control of the company. I use it here and love it. I used it alot back in college as well. (workstation version)

side note unrelated: I camped this weekend in Okoboji and had to laugh. We walked around and saw a Cyclone campsite pitted between a Hawkeye and a Husker campsite. too funny.

Love it (using it right now). Have been using Workstation version for a few years, its great. I don't plan on buying any stock, but I wouldn't dare try giving anyone stock advice..

Heard that tech might be a safer sweet spot in the market after the subprime debacle. Calfornia loans over $417k go at 8.5%. Guess Arnold will not be happy. The way around it all is to get a lower loan at 6.5% and then a second loan at 8.5%. Poor old Arnold.

    Re: Who loves VMware?

I am a big time advocate of vmware. I attended their insider party last week in SF, and also went to a xensource party. It was fun to listen to the differences in the company. I got to meet the CIO of vmware on fri, and got a chance to chat with him a bit. He is a frickin brilliant guy. He still teaches at stanford as his "day" job and then does the vmware stuff at night. That guy will probably be a billionaire on paper next week.

We use their products heavily at work, especially ESX. That is one sweet product. I use workstation and server also.

Looks like the price nearly doubled in it's first day of trading. Pretty impressive.

Nice product, we use it as part of a testing environment whenever we roll something new out but you still can't beat testing on an end user machine over a "virtual" environment.

    Re: Who loves VMware?

My business uses Workstation and ESX on our Laptops, our in-house Lab, and at many customer locations. We work a lot with Sun, and we have been pleased with our implementations on the SunFire X-series (AMD Opteron x64) servers.
