ISU games on mediacom?
jon miller talking about ISU games on TV maybe...
-
I heard about this yesterday and was waiting for something official on it. Even though I am not a Mediacom subscriber...this is great news. More media exposure for ISU! :)
-
ya...it would be great...even though i will be at the games : )
-
i don't know
With the game possibly being on media com, i see as bad, because ISU won't get any money from the game like it was on espn or abc, and it could possibly also lower the attendance of the game as fans that were planning on going just for the fact it wasn't on TV, now won't go because it is on TV. I like the game on TV because now i can tape it but for ISU it would actually be bad i think.
-
I think it's great, it just sucks that I have DirecTV.
-
come on crooksie...any publicity of ISU events is good..and i dont think attendance will be a concern, plus if you dont go to the games you aren't a true fan anyway

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So spending money on the billboard was bad, too, or any billboard for that matter, or the adveritsements at Jordan Creek, or the signs in yards, etc, etc, etc,
It's marketing, ts exposure.
If the game is not on TV, ISU gets no money. If they get no money and it is on TV, they get free exposure. People are still going to go to the game.
I don't see how this can be a bad thing what so ever. You have 30,000 season tickets sold, and is that without faculty and students? If so, this isnt even worth a debate. If those groups are included, you are still going to get walk up traffic.
You have to be on TV as much as you can.

Exposure is exposure...take what you can get. As it sits today...we will never have a home game on ESPN, as the Big 12 does not have a contract with ESPN. So complaining we can't get on ESPN is rather moot for now.
With the relationship between TV and attendance...Iowa and many of the other Big 10 schools attribute part of their good attendance to the great TV coverage they have. There is a dicussion about this (how TV coverage helps attendance) on the HN board.
Perhaps the ISU office is going to strategically place the official announcement of any game being on TV until a few days to a week prior to the game.
Best of both worlds...maxed out the number of people buying tickets most likely and put it on TV.

agreed
I agree its great to be on TV anytime, exposure is good, i was just concerned about attendance and ISU getting nothing in return for letting mediacom broadcast the game. Believe me the more ISU on TV the better, i just want to make sure its the best for ISU overall. And i will go to the game i promise.

ok
Ok you have convinced me the game being on TV is good for ISU anyway you cut it. I agree with being on TV more can attract more fans, as the more a team is on TV the more likely you are going to become a fan. Question do you think that we will have to pay Mediacom? or is it just a mutual agreement on both sides, i would think someone would have to get paid.
-
Will it be all home games or will there be some road games? Road Games would be sweet.
-
probably mutual...if anything some $$$ to ISU i would think

Iowa State regulated to what in essence is a state wide cable access channel, that's too funny.

To answer the questions as to what games...I don't think anyone knows yet. Maybe as soon as Toledo though. :)
For if it will cost extra to see the games on Mediacom...I did not get that vibe at all.
