That's good; now if we can get him on there after beating OU or TX; that would be Great.
I really believe that Bret has the talent to really shine this year. I hope that somehow the line comes together enough to allow him to succeed or fail on his own merits.
I find it ironic that Bowen leads the nation in tackles last year, yet he's only the fifth best LB in the Big XII...

Meyer has double the starts of the next highest qb and more than triple half of them...kind of crazy to look at.
Edit: that list looked a little better when i pasted it in the reply
In the ratings for top five players in the Big 12 by position, we have number 5 in punter and Linebacker(Bowen). I thought Blythe would be in there somewhere.
I can appreciate that we're all loyal to our players, and we should be they are Cyclones after all. But in all reality, we were bad, really bad, last year, and bad teams don't put players on all conference teams (especially pre season ones the next year).
Bowen had the stats, a great player on a bad defense. Brandtner did some good things as the season progressed (Lord knows he got lots of opportunities to impress people), and he got some love as well.
But, at the end of the day, no matter how attached to these guys we are, it would be like Baylor dominating the pre season all conference teams.
I agree with timc. Once I saw that Bylthe wasn't a top 5 receiver I stopped reading. If Bylthe had played for any other man besides Barney Cotton and Dan McCarney, he would be a 2 time first team All-American. And yes, I truly believe that.
While I agree that the o-line left a lot to be desired last year, I think a lot of their problems were related to play calling and predictability. It's hard enough to win in the Big 12 with a good game plan, but if 75% of the people in JT knew what was coming, don't you think the defensive coodinators who make a living doing this could figure it out, too? Keep the D guessing and on their heels, and our offense will have a much better chance for sucess. :notworthy:
Alvin made enough tackles for two years in one year. They are plain wrong. Alvin may be the best putside linebacker in the Midwest when all is done. He has heart and never quits. And now he is more muscular.
I take it no one watched the "North Breakdown" video next to Meyer's picture? I know that we didn't win many games last year, but we didn't even get a mention! Not even a sentence that indicated Iowa State had a football team. No mention of a coaching change. I'm not picky...I would have settled for "Iowa State is a team in the Big 12 North." Great coverage, Yahoo.
Bowen is a good LB nonetheless but just because he led in tackles doesn't mean he's the best at his position.
