Depth Chart as of Right Now
Here is my projection of the current depth chart based on reports out of practice and musings from various sources. Notice the lack of JUCO's yet.....my guess is the staff is waiting to award a job to a JUCO guy in hopes they won't rest easy with a promotion. We will see a heavy rotation at DL for sure and a guy like Bibbs will see many snaps as the rover spot in the Tampa 2. But for now...here is my best projecton. This will change by gameday IMO.
QB 1.Bret Meyer
2.Austen Arnaud
RB 1.Jason Scales
2. J.J. Bass
3.Jason Harris
and Alexander Robinson
LT 1.Doug Dedrick
2. Matt Hulbert
LG 1.Lee Tibbs
2.Joe Blaes
C 1.Brandon Johnson
RG 1.Tom Scmelling
2.Reggie Stephens
RT 1.Ben Lamaak
2.Joe Vanstrom
TE 1.Ben Barkema
2. Brandon Tinlin and
Collin Franklin
H-Back Derrick Catlett
WR 1. Todd Blyhte
2. Milan Moses
3. Euseph Messiah
SE 1.RJ Sumrall
2. (co) Wallace Franklin
and Marquis Hamilton
Defense
DE 1.Kurtis Taylor
2. Chris Weir
DT 1.Bryce Braaksma
and Bailey Johnson
NG 1.Tuba Rubin
2.Nate Frere
RUSH 1. (co) Rashawn Parker
and Christopher Lyle
SAM 1.Jon Banks
2.Michael Bibbs
MIKE 1.Jesse Smith
2.Fred Garrin
WILL 1.Alvin Bowen
2.Derec Scmidgall
and Josh Raven
CB 1.Drenard Williams
2. Chris Singleton
FS 1.Brandon Hunley
2.Steve Johnson
SS 1.Caleb Berg
2.James Smith
CB 1.Zac Sandvig
2.Allen Bell and
Devin McDowell
KR RJ Sumrall
Drenard Williams
Allen Bell PR Zac Sandvig
Allen Bell
PK Bret Culbertson
P Michael Brandtner
Just my thoughts....again I expect Allen Bell to receive many snaps at one of the corner spots and Lyle to eventually supplant Parker at RUSH. Bibbs will also spend a lot of time on the field rotating for Banks.
The OL scares the heck out of me still...only a combined 8 starts on the line (all from Schmelling). -
Re: Depth Chart as of Right Now
that looks pretty good as of now, i do think there will be some changes before kickoff.. Id expect to see Lyle over Parker against Kent State. I am going to be talking to Allen Bell soon and seeing what he expects, Last time i talked with him he was realizing that he needs to pick it up, Because like Ace told me before fall, Allen is one of the best athletes on the field "WHEN HE TRIES" I was really shocked to hear that he wasnt giving it is all earlier in the Fall, But i do think that he is the guy that we want at corner IF he works hard. I think he and ALL JUCOs that came in are beginning to see that this is another level up for them and NOTHING is going to be handed to them. The best 11 on each side of the ball will be there come Aug 30.

Not too shabby looking, but yes, that o-line scares me a little bit as well. but ya never know...

Re: Depth Chart as of Right Now
Anyone know if Michael Tate is going to see the field this year? He was one of those guys I was hoping would make an impact this year. He's got pretty good size at 6-5 and 294 pounds. With him lined up next to Rubin, I'd think we'd be pretty tough up the middle. And if those 2 guys were good enough to occupy 3 blockers, it would really clear things up for the LB corps to seek and destroy.

Re: Depth Chart as of Right Now
I'm guessing that will be 75-80% correct, so that looks pretty good. If we could just get a couple O-line guys to become studs, that would be two or three games right there.
Remember that stressed spelled backwards is desserts!

33-How could Bell not be going 100% at all times? Given Chizik's track record of putting DB's in the NFL, I would think that he would be busting his ***** everyday??

Re: Depth Chart as of Right Now
I don't followthe inner workings of ISU FB as closely as many of you (more of a BB guy), so I am wondering this: I thought Rashawn Parker was supposed to be the next big thing at ISU. What happened that he will not be starting?
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. -

I think that he will eventually see some time behind Rubin in a rotation.

Parker will see plenty of snaps though, I think he'll add a lot to the team this year.

I heard Tate is running with the 3's and is fighting an injury....

Some guys just don't like to practice. Also, sometimes guys come from a place where they were the star and they did not have to practice or got some sort of special treatment. And that is not going to roll with Chiz....
Some guys attitudes and work ethics will change as soon as they run out on the field agianst Kent State and get a taste for playing.....

I read an interview with Pelton and he eluded to a few things...
1. Parker is undersized, but does everything asked, works hard, and his techniques is good.
2. Lyle needs to understand he needs to stop the run as well as rush the passer....

Re: Depth Chart as of Right Now
I couldnt have said it much better than RedStorm, Some just just dont come out for practice. I know SO many guys like that. I knew guys in highschool that would barly swing through the motions in practice, But when it came to games they were up and they were Stars... Allen Bell was a big fish in a little pond, now he is a smaller fish in a considerably larger pond. Chizik does not promise anyone starting spots and that is becoming clear. Allen is realizing that he has to bust his butt in practice and earn respect.
Rashawn Parker hasnt been the same since he was LIT UP at Iowa... He is now really Timid it seems. I hope he can get over it. He looked fantastic the first 2 weeks, And then he had the hands to the face call in Texas that would have really given us some momentum to get in the game... He will rebound, He is one of the hardest young workers on the team, He did very well as a true frosh last year.

Re: Depth Chart as of Right Now
This may be a dumb question, but what happened to Adam Carper? Is his knee injury from last year that bad that he won't be on the field this year?
