40-3, total beatdown.
Yeah, I f*cked up.

Re: Practice Report 8-17-07
For some reason I feel like we are going to be alright this fall. I've been dead set all year on us winning 3-5 games, but I'm starting to feel differently. Kind of like the NY Jets last year making the coaching change, the culture changed and they go from a crappy season to a playoff team. I'm very curious to watch these guys.

I'm still on the fence. I feel like the offense has been making more big plays, but I'm really hoping the coaching change injects some new blood into the program. Only a couple more weeks!

Looks like the offense and the defense are making big plays. Hopefully that's not due to lack of competition. :P

Re: Practice Report 8-17-07
I think that we are going to like this team, and this coach. Having said that, we need to remember that this is the reminants of a 4-8 team that could have gone winless. We are not practicing against USC, and doing all of these wonderful things.
But I am as excited as everyone else to see us play, and hope that we can surprise people, in a good way this time.

I am easy to please at this point. If we have to lose, I want to go down fighting, kicking and screaming, not feeling like the movie groundhog day after every game.

I don't know....I get the feeling that any win to start out the season is a good thing. While learning the new system, the players might be thinking instead of reacting for a few games. I fully expect for them to improve and keep fighting as the season goes on. It wouldn't surprise me much if they have a tight game, or even a loss to someone they should beat early, then come back and beat a ranked or very good team later in the season. -
Re: Practice Report 8-17-07
The Stretch of 7 consecutive games with Iowa, @Toledo, @ Nebraska, @TTech, Texas, Oklahoma and @Mizzou could say otherwise about bowling.
Here is how I am breaking the season down.
1. Non-Conference games: Win 3 out of 4 (Allows slip ups with Iowa or Toledo)
2. Rough Patch of Conference @NU, @TTECH,TEXAS,OU, @Mizzou: Win 1-2 (probably either Mizzou or Tech?
3. Kansas state, Colorado and @KU: Get 2 of 3 here.
This gets us to 6-7 wins on the first year of the chizek era with 2008's schedule being a lot better.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

I'm hopeful that Chizik will bring new life to the defensive side of the ball, but I'll wait to see it before I upgrade to a bowl projection. Of course, none of this means I'm any less excited for the beginning of the season than eveybody else!

[QUOTE=iccyfan;166793]I guess I'm not getting any comfort from all the big plays being made by the offense in practice.
My theory on the big plays is that while the defense is learning a new system, they are also learning to play way more aggressively, and like it or not, teams that play aggressive defense are going to give up big plays. Hopefully giving up big plays in practice will teach the team how to not do it in games. Time will tell. -
Re: Practice Report 8-17-07
