The Chief Global Operations Officer was an ISU grad. I had an opportunity to talk with him at a function last spring and he has since left the company. He took a job with a furniture company, said he wanted a position reporting directly to the board. I don't know that he would have the ability to cut us a check for $100 million, but it doesn't hurt to dream.
As for a more likely candidate, I thought the president or former president at Lockheed Martin was also an ISU grad.
What about Rockwell-Collins? Iowa State practically owns them- without ISU engineers, they wouldn't even exist. Surely they could express their appreciation...

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Philip Knight...dude gots some cash. He's actually incredibly nice as well. He founded Nike while he was still in school with Bowerman, the track coach at Oregon. He developed shoes for Steve Prefontaine. I'm pretty sure he stepped down as president last year, but is still on the board.
The difference between having the president of Nike and the president of Lockheed Martin is where Sports fall on their priority list. If your business essentially revolves around sports...you're more prone to focus your money there. And the CFO doesn't usually make as much as the founder of the company...
Still it would be nice to see some of that cash coming to Ames. And it probably does in some ways.
It's really interesting that Oregon doesn't get even better players based on their facilities. They easily have the best locker rooms in college football...maybe even better than most NFL clubs. They could really recruit on facilities alone. Kids today don't care as much about tradition.
Looks like basketball might see a boost for the Ducks. But with all of that money, can't they afford better uni's?
