It's not a perfect system, I'm guessing that if they asked every athlete to turn in receipts for rent, food, etc. it'd be way too much administrative work and the money saved would just go towards staffing people to handle the accounting for a program like this.
Yeah, everyone gets to pocket the extra money. But, there's a BIG difference between finding a cheap house or apartment and living in subsidized housing. That is unethical at best.

That is the key. Depriving low income families that are intended to benefit from the government program. Anyone that is receiving free board from a scholarship should not be entitled to scam a government program intended for people with real financial need.

I'm always surprised at how events get processed. People could get so outraged over LE drinking with students, but could care less about depriving poor families subsidized housing so that Iowa football players could cash in on their housing money.

I don't know where I saw the original report, but it listed 4 Iowa players as being involved. I am sorry I don't remember where it was, it was probably on the rivals.iowa website.

I think that part of the issue was they all were using their facebook accounts to show off.

But hey, nobody has been convicted of anything yet. This will all blow over.

And for someone who doesn't live in Iowa, this news hasn't really hit on a regional(much less national) level.

His SON lived in subsidized housing. His SON! I don't buy the KF is clean crap. Not for a second. He's got a storage garage full of wool which he uses to pull over Iowan's eyes.

Yep, and another shed full of money and credit cards to hand out to the students and to buy his wool.

I seem to remember a lot of "stuff" going on under his watch but I don't remember them all. Does someone have a list of all of the "incidents" that have happened while KF has been coach?

I don't want to make anything of it, I'm just curious.

I would say KF is a stand up guy. I don't like Iowa, but I respect KF. There are always some bad apples on a team. Using the logic that this is some how KF's fault making him "dirty" then you would say coach Mac was "dirty" too.

But seriously folks, don't you think this hurts EIU's "street cred", they're flashing 20's and 50's. How embarassing.
They can't expect to compete for 5 star athletes when their own players are holding empty bottles of booze and a few bucks.
I agree! How can you get street cred flashing $20s and $50s ??? They really need $100s before they earn any kind of respectable street cred.

I think 20s and 50s ARE considered respectable street cred in Iowa City. As much as the residents of IC want to think they are Chicago or Detroit, they are still in Iowa after all.

If I could give them rep points, I would.

I dunno - people claiming to be from the mean streets of Iowa City kind of has the same ring as way back when Shane McMahon and his crew claimed to be from the mean streets of Greenwich, CT (although much more white-trashy).
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?

Well, the cost of living is lower in Iowa... the 20's and 50's spend here like 100's do other places.
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

I don't know about Greenwich, but I went to Bridgeport CT for business one time and I was scared for my life, what a ghetto.
