college students
The best thing about college football is the purity of the game. Noboby gets paid millions of bucks except the head coaches, they play for the love of the game. There is nothing better than walking into to the Jack and seeing all the students pulling for their clones at the top of their lungs!!! I had 2 kids graduate from ISU and another will come next fall and the student section is the best in the Big XII! Props to all the kids who support your school, and be loud!!! It helps with recruiting and tv when you guys are loud and behind the clones. My hat is off to you!

Re: college students
Agreed - this is a great statement to make regarding all college athletics. It's what makes March Madness what it is; it's why hundreds of thousands of people flock to a place like Omaha to hear the ping of metal each summer; it's why colleges can build 100k seat stadiums and fill them every Saturday. The purity (even with the scandals of Reggie Bush, OU, SMU, etc, etc) of college sports and the alumni/students passion for their respective schools will always keep it far and above all else.
And I too am proud to don the Cardinal and Gold each week, win or lose, and love the ISU enthusiasm each and every day!!! Kudos to you, sel4cy! I'm ready to put the pads on again and hit somebody! :)

Re: college students
Gah, I can't wait for the season to start! I have a feeling that even after I graduate, I'll still get friends together and sneak into the student section for the atmosphere. Kinda sad, but true -- it's dead quiet in any other section of Jack Trice. -

Re: college students
I really like the section of the stadium that I sit in it is mostly recent Alumni and everyone is standing the whole game and it gets loud around there. I miss the student section but I am really happy being in section 20.

Sit down at games...why would you even think of doing such a thing!!

Re: college students
Wait until you pass 60 and you will understand how some people don't stand for the entire game.

Because they get distracted by thoughts of Matlock and their next trip to the talkies? Or because they're worrying about conserving enough energy to crank-start their automobile at the end of the game? True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: college students
As of this very moment, I'm laying out all my gear for the student pep rally tonight. I've been going through Cyclone Withdrawals for EIGHT MONTHS and I am about ready to let a massive amount of energy loose. I just ordered around 70 tubes of paint, and it's gonna feel REAL good to crack the first one open this afternoon.
Now I just have to draw up a good design for today in the next 4 hours or so.

It is nice to think they are playing purely for love of the game but quite a few are also playing for a spot in the NFL...whether they have a chance or not a lot of them think they do.

Re: college students
Notre Dame has a Standing Alumni section; it gets crazy.
-
Re: college students
A standing Alumni section would be fun... I've been to some road games where you can't really stand because most of the people in the section aren't standing... and that was no fun
The most fun I had on a road game was in a section that was mostly empty so I could move to area that I could stand anyways...
