trust me...it is in ALL Cyclone fans best interest to email and call Mediacom early and often complaining about having to pay for this station on their expanded cable packages and threaten to switch companies/digital/whatever.

That is like negotating with Terrorist. They just opened the door to have CBS, ABC, NBC, Big12 and everyone else and their dog start more of this crap. It belongs on the sports tier. If the Big 12 had a channel it should belong on the sports tier.

I don't mind Mediacom. They have lots of shows on local connections channel and they are showing a bunch of BBall games this year. They might get a football game also. I really think the Big10 must of came down in price or something. I think they are wrong for forcing this on basic cable.

I'm pretty sure their basic package is just channels 1-19 or something like that. The expanded basic package are all the other channels that are available until you get to the digital package.
My disappointment comes from being forced to pay extra for a channel that I have no interest in. Bottom line is that it should be in a pay tier and not the expanded basic. I'm all for a Big 12 network and would expect to pay an extra subscription to view it. Mediacom has laid the groundwork for the Big 12 network to also be on an expanded basic tier that everyone pays extra, should it ever become more than a dream.
What exactly is the Big Ten network's negotiating position here? Is Mediacom afraid that not having it will cause defections to satellite? I would think Mediacom would be able to force the Big Ten's hand in this matter. This thing obviously belongs in the sports tier and there is no way it should be on regular cable.
