I honestly think the DMR has improved this summer. I have been trying to see if Iowa or ISU was getting more articles and if it was biased. Before this summer I have agreed with everyone that it seemed Iowa got all of the attention, but honestly I have been pleased with the coverage ISU has gotten over the summer. Yes in the past week Iowa has gotten a lot of press but it's certainly not press that they want. Take today for example, we got an article about walk ons and the only thing Iowa has is an article on the Big Ten Network (not really an article about the Iowa football team) There have been full section previews already for each team and I have seen more days where there are more articles on ISU than Iowa. I know a lot on here have given up on the DMR and I was in the same boat, but gave them another chance to see how they would cover the new team this summer. I'm willing to give them a break until I start seeing obvious black and gold koolaid articles coming out.
If OWH owns Ames Tribune, couldn't they pool resources regarding clone coverage? There is a big sports coverage void in central Iowa that could be filled by AT. DMRag is too big, they need more local competition.
The hype should start to gain momentum when we come back from Nebraska 5-0.
We will start getting some hype next week. With the hot summer, I am just not in the football mindset yet. I need that first cool day to really get me going. Hopefully it will not be insanely hot still next week.
I spent a couple of days in Des Moines and watched the Des Moines news channels and was shocked at the absence of coverage of either the Cyclones or the Hawks. All they had was Cubs baseball and golf....Every day the Omaha stations have at least something Husker related on(I usually change the channel at the point:wink:)
