O.T. - What will you drive to work?
HyperBike aims to let riders keep up with traffic without using a motor

http://blog.scifi.com/tech/pics/bb6095.jpgWant a bigger, better, faster bike? The HyperBike claims to be all of those things and more. Curtis DeForest wanted a bike that could keep up with traffic. He was inspired by the angled wheels on the wheelchairs used in wheelchair rugby, but in his design those tilted wheels are 8 feet high.
"Riders" have to be strapped in, and once they are, the contraption supposedly allows them to cruise at up to 50 miles per hour without breaking a sweat. The bike has no seat and is powered by arms as well as legs. Because it's a full-body workout, it seems that DeForest plans on marketing a stationary version as well.
This contraption is really crazy-looking, and it's hard to imagine people riding them to work. On the other hand, the HyperBike (given that tiny wheel in front, it's a trike, technically) is such an original design that maybe someday it will occupy a small niche, like the Segway.

Is it just me or does that look like the "IT" from South Park?

Looks like something from American Gladiators.
Re: O.T. - What will you drive to work?
Speaking of which, I saw a teaser for a new American Gladiators show on NBC during Last Comic Standing last nite. Anyone else see that?

I think other bike riders will get ****** at this guy when he takes up the whole bike rack.

I didn't see it, but NBC.com confirms it.

Let's just hope they don't ruin the original...
If NBC does this right... :notworthy:

I used to love American Gladiators. I hope they stick with some of the original games they did, and they get less corny gladiators.
Did ou see a few months ago when ESPN Classic had a couple American Gladiator marathons? That made for some good days.

They're going thru them episode by episode now (and it might be on ESPN)
Re: O.T. - What will you drive to work?
I don't know what kind of crazy person would hop on the interstate and head downtown in that contraption.
I'm ready for the gladiators to be back as well!

It will never take off. How will women talk on their cell phone while drinking coffee and putting on their makeup while riding it? (Saw that this morning on the way in to work)
Re: O.T. - What will you drive to work?
Do you have to wear the wet suit looking thing that that guy is sporting. I would not feel comfortable if I had to wear a wet suit, while riding a crazy tri-cycle thing to work. Also wear could I park that thing?
